Wounded GI's get free hospital meals (Stars and Stripes)
Remember the outrage when it became known that our military wounded were being charged for their meals in military hospitals by private contractors like Halliburton?

That unbelievable policy is finally gone, and wounded GI's will be reimbursed for what they paid for those meals in the past.

3. They get the odd free meal, after being maimed
And mercenaries get $10000 to $20000 per month. I have heard there are 10000 to 20000 mercenaries in Iraq, working for various organizations (U.S. govt, corporations, etc.). So, that works out to $100 million to $400 million per month in salaries, or $1.2 to $4.8 Billion per year. Exactly where is this money coming from? Anyone who thinks this whole thing isn't about oil should contemplate these numbers.

8. Accuracy is best policy
This is a difficult one to explain to folks not familiar with the byzantine rules of the military pay system. Stars and Stripes does a good job of showing how the goverment was nickle and diming wounded soldiers by preventing "double dipping" (i.e, getting a monetary rations allowance and rations at the same time). It's a good example of the goverment diligently pursuing money from working class folks while ignoring the real scammers (e.g., Halliburton et.al)
