US President Barack Obama has delivered an uncompromising address on the first day of his visit to India.

Speaking at the Taj Hotel, in Mumbai, he said his decision to stay there was a deliberate message to the terrorists who besieged it in November 2008.

There's also a short video of his speech on the significance of their choosing to stay at the same hotel that was attacked 2 years ago.

16. Sorry you're continuously disappointed but
keeping expectations realistic and looking at the long term help with that too. (no sarcasm intended just my way of looking at things)

25. That is exactly what I am doing, keep exceptions realistic.
Until we have War Crimes trials and Crimes Against Humanity trials for the obviously guilty in this country, history will keep repeating itself.

only one story taller.

8. that's silly. a hole in the ground with a fence around it is worth more than any building.
keeps the wounds open. keeps the fear alive.

11. Anybody ever gone to the site with a geiger counter?
Why would cars burn way far away from the WTC building on 9/11? Why are so many people who were there that day dead now?

22. Nah, it was a crappy building design.
No rooftop evac, and it depended too much on too few support columns.

But make two office buildings, and make them just as tall.

4. What a great photo-op! The President already has started to rebuild his political capital.
Compare his macho to Dubya's scurrying from hidey-hole to deeper hidey-hole, leaving Rudy Giulani and Big Mama Karen Hughes to rally the American people--see http://www.historycommons.org/context.jsp?item=a355karenhughes#a355karenhughes for documentation of the first statement from the WH on 9/11, PAST 3PM after attacks beginning at 7AM.

26. What? You obviously didn't get the meaning of the "hide" emoticon that was put there so that
people like you would understand that it was all in jest and not hit me over the head.

14. That's the same hotel Hillary stayed in on her last trip to India.
A few months after the attack. The security is so tight that a bedbug couldn't get in.

19. It's a tonic to read DU
after the downer last Tues. I've since gotten mostly over it. DUers are the smartest people. They just "get it". I think Obama is ready to unload his ammunition on the RW. He has been liberated since last week to play 'Mr. Nice Guy' with the Repugs. Even more so, since Stoopnagle McConnell announced that he will see to it that Obama will be a one-term President.
