NH poll: Clinton or Gore could grab primary lead
The Union Leader

If Al Gore or Hillary Rodham Clinton sought the Democratic Presidential nomination, either would immediately become the front-runner in New Hampshire, according to a new poll.

The Presidential race is so “soft,” said Franklin Pierce College poll director Rich Killion, that many people who had told the survey they were “committed” to one of the announced candidates jumped to the former vice president or the New York senator when their names were brought into the mix. ---

1. Why don't these polls ask, "If Santa Claus or Jesus were running"?
I'm so tired of polling regarding 'candidates' who *aren't* in the running! Geez, what a waste of time!

9. Amen!
Lets completely disregard the fact that the election is a year away and nobody is paying attention except a few political junkies, pundits and hardcore activists. The idea that rank and file Democratic voters are wringing their hands and despairing over the current crop of candidates is pure BS. Any pundit who is who has even a rudimentary understanding of U.S. politics KNOWS this, yet they continue to parrot it as truth. Name recognition is still driving most of these polls. The public is clammoring for Hillary? Give me a an effing break. Why do people believe this crap???

29. Believe WHAT crap? That Americans want the most viable candidates to beat
Bush.

And the two with the best and most prominent track record opposing Bush are?

Albert Gore Jr. and Hillary Clinton.

Kerry sucks his popsicle and his pops popsicle.

Dean is new.

Kucinich is also too new.

Edwards voted for Iraq etc as did Lieberman (and Kerry the Bonesman)

There is nothing ridiculous about the people wanting the nest chance to win. As much as I don't trust Hillary I think a Gore/Clinton ticket is the one that WILL win. And THEY know it and WE know it.

We should all stop bullshitting ourselves and MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

I am so sick of the people who bash Gore and his chances over and over and over again and, as I have said before, I think you are all either brainwashed by the BFEE media or you are part of it.

35. Nobody loves Al Gore more than me.
But, he removed himself from the campaign over six months ago. And, Hillary has consisently stated that she intends to continue serving her constituents in New York. She plans to run for reelection in 2006!

Neither of these two can afford to wait until the last minute to "declare candidacy". If they were to do so, it would be a political disaster for the Democratic Party. So, if you have connections, you'd better urge them to jump into the fracas now. Later is too late.

While I will support WHOMEVER is the Democratic nominee...my preference is for Dr. / Governor Howard Dean!

2. Name recognition
I will say it again, they are very afraid of Dean as the nominee. His message is very politically damaging to the neo-cons.

Suggesting Gore as a candidate.......Briar Patch Rove again, just shows how desperate they are. I also noticed stepped up attacks on Dean by all of the cable channels. His message and his influence are not good at all for the junta.....even if he doesnt win the nomination.

17. Dean 2004 PERFECT
For the first time in my very long life, I'm supporting a candidate in every way I can, including contributions to his campaign. I've sent emails, talked to people, sent them articles; etc. I'm really into it. It would be nice if the old easter bunny would show up some day on Easter Sunday too, but, he probably never will.

13. Not only is Dean dangerous to the neo-cons but to the DLC also
Dean's campaign, while espousing the best ideas of the DLC, is a gauntlet slapping the face of Al From and the DLC leadership. They don't want to face the anger of the people. They, like the feudal lords of old, want to suppress dissent among the people, just like Bush does.

There are 9 declared candidates running which means that the supporters from 8 of those candidates will have their guy or gal lose. It ain't no big deal. The idea is to beat Bush. Not each other.

dont you think the PNAC crowd has a plan B ?

I want a candidate who will stop PNAC in its tracks.....there are a few of our candidates who havent convinced me.

A ticket of Lieberman/Biden or Bayh/Lieberman would probably start more wars than Junior. The DLC is evil.

11. Me too. I'm still pissed about 2000.
I don't care what others here say, Bush isn't going to be reelected, and whoever the democratic nominee is, he will win. Hands down. I hope it's Hillary (because that would be like a slap in the face to the neocons) or Gore (because I certainly want to see him up against Bush again), but I'll vote for whoever it is.

16. Clinton and Gore are not running
Many of us have moved on to other candidates. We need to unite behind the candidates we have. They have worked very hard and are spending a lot of money. The least we can do is be supportive of the ones who are already out there. We have some excellent candidates. I would
vote for Al Gore again, or Hillary Clinton, if they were nominated, but now, I'm throwing my support to the ones already in the race.
I still believe that tolls are tilted in the direction that the DLC
wants them to be.

33. Maybe not yet. But they still COULD run.
So I see no reason to rule it out yet.

If Gore were to announce NOW uncategorically that he WILL NOT RUN or accept the nomination, then I would accept it.

But it is wiser for Gore to hold his cards now until the time is right.

It will be right in a month or so.

And THEN we will see if his running is out of the question.

Until then I urge everyone NOT to bash Gore.

If he runs we must support him as he was the lawfully elected President in 2000 and should have that position.

It would vindicate ALL od us if he were toi run and win in 2004 so I support that possibility above all others.

GORE!!!!

37. If he couldn't stand up to the DLC
then what makes me believe that he will stand up to the Republicans. When Al Gore dropped out publicly, he lost my support. And why would the people who convinced him not to run before change their minds now? Do you want to know what I believe? I believe that the Gore rumors are a result of Dean's recent success, and they believe that Gore would take support away from Dean. Frankly, I don't believe that these people want either Gore or Dean, but the presence of both of them will pretty much guarantee the nomination for Kerry.

with no fucking attribution.

This is actually getting exciting. I think Gore is going to come back in.

But he will follow the Rovian/Madison Ave. marketing wisdom: you do not introduce a new improved product in the summertime. You do it in the fall.

Gore will announce his intentions, whatever they are, AFTER labor day and not a secong before either yea or nay.

Hillary or Al aren't RUNNING!!!
Geez! How much longer we gonna waste our fucking time and energy on this goddamn MENTAL MASTURBATION!!!

Clinton and Gore are NOT running! DEAL with it!

Won't work. Al already announced he was not going to try and get the nomination for 2004. Do you want him to be laughed at like Ross "I Changed my mind, Larry, I'm back IN" Perot was?
And while I would vote for Hillary in a heartbeat, there are still enough people in this country who bite their tongue in half at the mention of her name to make that an exercise in heartbreak.

Rove just LOVES to see "news" items like this and the subsequent feeding frenzy on Dem boards. Helps him to shove shit up his sleeve without anyone noticing.

36. Al Gore is working behind the scenes on building a liberal media network
...
Gore has also been helpful to Chicago venture capitalists Sheldon and Anita Drobny, who announced in February that they planned to fund a liberal radio network to counterbalance such conservative commentators as Rush Limbaugh. Several sources said Gore has helped introduce the Drobnys to such Hollywood political forces as producer-director Rob Reiner. Comedian Al Franken, author of the book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot," is considering hosting a show on the Drobnys' network, and added that the couple has approached Gore to do regular essays. Anita Drobny declined to comment about any venture involving Gore, telling TIME: "I'm not at liberty to say anything about that. As far as Vice President Gore, you'll have to call him to ask him about his project and what they are doing." Gore and Hyatt did not respond to repeated requests for an interview.

Gore has also been spending time with Chicago venture capitalists Anita and Sheldon Drobny, who have vowed to spend $10 million to start a liberal talk radio network to counter conservatives like Rush Limbaugh. Time.com says Gore introduced the Drobnys to actor-director Rob Reiner and other liberal Hollywood heavyweights.
