US teens look to Botox to stay cool
Oh dear.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1061797,00.html

IN the spring, a young girl’s fancy turns to Botox. American teenagers are using the muscle-paralysing injection to keep them feeling cool during one of their most gruelling rites of passage: the prom.

Botox is best known as the five-minute treatment that erases worry lines on middle-aged foreheads. Last year, however, a record 5,600 young people in the United States aged 18 and younger received Botox, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. An overwhelming number of cases involved injections in the palms and under the arms to prevent sweating.

Dr Leroy Young, chairman of the plastic surgeons’ new developments committee, attributed the rise to growing pressure on teenagers to look their best at the prom high school dances held across America next month.

“Many of them look confident and outgoing, but inside they are just plain terrified and they are seeking ways to disguise that,” said Young, from St Louis, Missouri. “That is why so many are paying for Botox.”

1. Ridiculous
Shame on the parents who pay for this. I didn't need Botox to look cool at my prom. I can dance like James Brown, no paralyzing poison can help you with that :)

Kylie Minogue (should be arrested for abusing the stuff)

(Notice the ultra shiny and unnaturally smooth forehead)

(Here, Kylie has laid off the stuff a bit ... see the lines on the top of her forehead, but the bottom remains ultra smooth)
Nicole Kidman (notice the evil "Bat Brow" look

8. Not if you suffer migraines
I read about the absence of migraine headaches as a side effect of Botox four years ago. I was desperate to stop my migraines, which I was getting once every 1-2 weeks (and they would last for more than a day). No over the counter medicine even dented them, so I tried botox. IT WORKED. I haven't had a migraine for FOUR YEARS! I also don't mind the fact that strangers no longer say "well, you look like you aren't having a good day" because my brows don't furrow involuntarily anymore.I HIGHLY recommend botox for migraine or stress headache suffers!

A friend with post polio syndrome is also given botox to ease her muscle pain. So don't condemn all of us who use it!

4. How Disgusting!
There are so many people who can't afford healthcare, and some people are willing to spend money for stupid sh*t like this.

This stuff is made from botulism! Where are these parents, and what the hell are they thinking?

There are some things you can't, or shouldn't buy. Do they put the plastic surgeon bill in their scrapbook?

Geez.

7. oh really?
And lots of useful medicines are made from snake poison.

"There are some things you can't or shouldn't buy"??? What, now you are going to decide for everyone?

I can't believe the outrage over freaking botox. What's the big deal if people want to use it? And that argument of "I can't believe people use Botox when others have no access to health care" is a classic logical fallacy. I suppose I better stop smoking because I am harming myself while millions go without adequate health care?

Sorry, I just really hate that attitude

If people want to screw up their bodies, that's their decision, but I bet a lot of them don't know Botox will eventually paralyze the muscles, skin, etc., & then Botox won't help them anymore.

Still, that's their choice to make.
