9/11 Panel Chairman Expects to Surprise

By WILLIAM C. MANN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The chairman of the commission looking into the Sept. 11 attacks said Sunday that some of its findings has surprised him and will surprise the public as well.

Thomas H. Kean also said he expects the commission's final report to be published before the November elections, possibly as early as July, even though the White House must clear it for intelligence problems.

The commission's deadline for submitting its report is July 26, extended from May 27 after complaints that the White House was delaying the turnover of necessary materials.

Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey, said he expects no similar foot-dragging as the White House vets the report for security lapses.

"Nobody has any interest in having the report sitting around Washington during the election period and pieces of it leaking out. Nobody has any interest in this thing coming out September or October, in the middle of the election," Kean said.

1. I keep thinking.. 'they'll blame it all on Clinton'. That's the surprise.
Has the Commission talked to that Delmont guy? Was that his name? The one in Canada who wrote the letter foretelling the attacks and give it to jail officials before 9/11?? Remember that wierd story? He was charged with some ticky-tack credit card fraud in Canada. But.. he was an AMerican from Detroit who said he was doing intelligence work for U.S., but the U.S. said he was just a worker bee.. BUT he had an office extension at the DoD. Anyone remember that? Anyone here that can expound or clarify what I just wrote? His info would be really interesting to the commission...

13. Vreeland
has "disappeared"

Story: http://www.guerrillanews.com/wildcard/vreeland_one

Vreeland carried dispatches which were purported to have been from one of Sadam's sons to someone in Rusia outlining the 9/11 plan. IN OTHER WORDS, Vreeland CLAIMED to be carrying DOCUMENTATION that would have TIED 9/11 DIRECTLY TO IRAQ.

2. The surprise will be a declaration of the complete vindication
of each and every action taken by the misadministration. It's all Clinton's fault, you see....

Which will be, in reality, no surprise at all.

4. Remember a while back
Remember a while back when Keane said they'd discovered culpability and that heads should roll? He backed off his statements the next day. Someone obviously got to him. I wonder if this is more of the same, and he'll backpedal again.

I was just thinking that if I were a reasonable person on the commission, I'd leave a copy of the report (or a computer floppy with it) lying around on my desk for several days until someone "stole" it from my office.

Yooo-hoo, Daniel Ellsberg! Your country needs you again.

12. I hear Starbucks
is a great place to leave stuff laying around.

Could you imagine if they had to start closing all the Starbucks for national security reasons? Yuppies across America would probably take to the streets and riot.

5. "Commission report declares nothing wrong on 9/11, surprises all"
There's a lot of potential suprises. I'm not looking forward to what surprises Thompson and Slade have for us.

before the truth gets to the public

White House to Review 9/11 Report Before Release

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House will vet "line by line" the report of an independent commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks before it is publicly released, the commission chairman said on Sunday.

Chairman Thomas Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey, said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he was surprised to learn of the White House review, which he said was required under law to ensure any material that could compromise intelligence was not included.

"They go through it line by line," Kean said, referring to the White House review process involving intelligence issues. White House chief of Staff Andrew Card will oversee the vetting.

11. If he expects no problems with the WH in vetting….
Then this report won’t be worth the paper it’s written on…

14. Another possible "surprise"
Call me an optimist, but having Bush and Cheney testifying together could actually bite them on the ass if the commission already has evidence that will contradict their joint response.

15. A hunch
the commission report will be no more conclusive than the J.F. Kennedy Warren report and a very strong possibility the report will be WhiteHousewashed. In the interest of US national security and prestige, of course.

17. Did Anyone Else Hear What William Kristol Just Said On Fox News?????
On Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace, William Kristol just said that the 911 families attending the investigation were conducting "moral blackmail" on America. He said the commission does not belong to them and they have no greater right to an opinion than anyone else. He says their comments, their standing ovations, and applause or protest is something that should not be recognized. I'm shocked that the father of the Machiavellian, morally bankrupt PNAC would actually have the nerve to say what I know is in his heart.

18. What an evil person he is!
How in the hell can he say that the 9/11 families have no bigger stake in it than the rest of us. Incomprehensible evil.
