Obama goes courtside day after being elbowed in game
By Elise Viebeck - 11/27/10 04:24 PM ET

Less than 24 hours after a basketball injury required 12 stitches in his lower lip, President Obama was back courtside to see a game between Howard University and Oregon State.

Obama and his family attended the game at Howard on Saturday afternoon, according to White House pool reports.

The president's brother-in-law, Craig Robinson, is the coach of Oregon State's men's basketball team.

The pooler said that Obama did not appear to be wearing a lip bandage or hurting in any kind of way.

1. Man he's got more basketball spirit
than some of the NBA players. An injury like that might take a NBA player out for 2 or 3 games.

3. There are people here on DU who hate Obama and...
Any press release that does not attack Obama in some way that they use to express their hatred.

6. That's not really a good reason to unrec something.
Rec'ing a story is if you think others would enjoy reading it.
To unrec a 'good' story just doesn't makes sense.
There's always the option of not doing either,
which would be the same as saying: Okay the story was okay, neither great nor bad.

10. It's not a contest.
Rec'ing isn't only for the 'best top ten stories'.
When a post is rec'd it just means that it is worthwhile to read,
someone reads it and says to himself/herself this was interesting to read
so I'll click the recommendation button so others will know I liked the article.
And even the unrec'd stories don't go away, as soon as someone posts a comment it goes back to the top of the again ;)

Btw, Welcome to DU.

15. It really has become the equivalent of a
beauty pageant. Probably a side-effect of those 'text to vote' reality shows or something.

It is somewhat amusing to watch people try to justify a post that is the equivalent of a teenybopper squealing over the latest teen idol . . . but not amusing enough.

12. The artilce was important if only to let us know how the Prez is feelling today
after his injury yesterday.
Not all posts on DU deal with policy.

17. thanks Tx4Obama
I thought it was important to post for that reason,
he is ok, he is good out in public, no biggy, moving on...
no recs or unrecs necessary.

I just wanted DU to know.
peace, kp

5. Because that is what happens a lot of the time.

in all their Thanksgiving Dinner leftovers with his mouth stitched!

18. Good grief, the comments at that link are about the most obnoxious and illiterate as any I've read.
Wish I hadn't read them. :(

It's rather hard to pretend that we as a nation will improve our lot when I read the likes of such outrageous ignorance.

No point in denying it I guess. Damn, but we're screwed. :scared:

20. Ouch
I'm sorry that happened to him but I'm sure it won't keep him out of the game long and I'm sure it was a very good plastic surgeon who did the stitching. I wish him a speedy recovery.
