(West Wing creator ) Aaron Sorkin brands Sarah Palin TV show 'a snuff film'

West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin today gave Sarah Palin both barrels over her US TV reality show, accusing the contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination of shooting an animal "for political gain".

Sorkin, writer of the recent Facebook movie The Social Network, also accused the Fox News contributor of making a "snuff film" after the latest episode of Sarah's Palin's Alaska featured the politician going hunting with her father and shooting a caribou. He described Palin as "deranged", a "witless bully" and a "phony pioneer girl". He also said The Learning Channel, the US cable network, "should be ashamed of itself" for broadcasting her "truly awful reality show".

Sorkin was responding to a post on Palin's Facebook page in which the former governor of Alaska reacted to criticism of Sunday's episode by accusing her detractors of hypocrisy: "Unless you've never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather chair or eaten meat, save your condemnation."

"I eat meat, chicken and fish, have shoes and furniture made of leather ... I'm able to make a distinction between you and me without feeling the least bit hypocritical," Sorkin wrote in an incendiary comment piece http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-sorkin/sarah-palin-killing-animals_b_793600.html">posted on the Huffington Post website early today. "I don't watch snuff films and you make them. You weren't killing that animal for food or shelter or even fashion, you were killing it for fun. You enjoy killing animals," he added.

I personally find it offensive as a "sport".

However... I 100% respect people's RIGHT to hunt and in many parts of the nation hunting is a way of life.

Did Palin shoot the Caribou for the reality show? Sure. Did she look like an amateur? Yup.




But I CAN explain the "does it kick" question. I've asked it myself when out target shooting with friends.

Short story.

I was at the range a LONG time ago and wanted to do some long distance target shooting. My personal rifle at the time was a scoped Remington 700 in .308 and I shot it pretty well. So I rented a .338 Winchester Magnum scoped rifle to try out. I didn't think much about the difference in recoil and ended up with a nice scope tattoo on my brow.

So if one was out with a group of hunters, one with a .30-06, one with a .30-30 and one with a .300 Win Mag... and if I didn't already KNOW what the caliber was, I WOULD ASK "How's the kick?" or "What caliber is this?"

It's just sick.

I'm a liberal Democrat in the midwest and I hunt. You need to remember that our party is made up of a lot of very different people. We need to be tolerant of others.

Political affiliation has got nothing to do with how I feel about this.

I'm sure she shot at it, but I didn't see any footage that lets me say she shot it. I thought it was fairly strange that the caribou just hung aroud after having three shots go over its head...

OTOH, I only saw it due to unfortunate pause in channel surfing left me on that train wreck and I couldn't look away.

The sight of her big square head, massive masculine jaw and that voice that sounds like two cats fighting, makes me want to puke. On that dancing show, Dancing with Stars, that Bristol Palin looked like a clumsy over fed heifer, who was in heat and wanting to mount anything that moved. Female dancers are supposed to be graceful.. nice to watch. She made an ugly spectacle of herself.

I can't even talk about her killing that poor animal. She's disgusting.

I don't like her either but not because of how she looks. That seems a bit shallow.

who is Palin appealing to? All members of the NRA and MEN. She pictures herself as a sexy, good-old-boy. Can't wait to see her puffing on a stogie, chewing a wad and taking first in a spitting contest, socking down her Jack Daniels straight. Sarah keeps trying to reinvent herself as the media tries to keep up with her latest image. The media made her up and now are trying to justify the monster they have created. Anybody can write a book, all you need is a good word smith to do it for you. We have two years of continual Sarah Opinions on Everything. Problem with substance to her opinions? After listening to her tell Beck that of course we MUST support our North Korean allies I wonder if something inside her big head had exploded and short circuited her thinking or is she really that uninformed. What if she were to become our President and made that kind of statement what the reaction would be. Heaven forbid the media would have to explain her 'informed opinion.' And, isn't there a word, a medical term, for women who exploit their children for their own gain?

Legally taking game for food is as natural as cooking and eating it. If Sarah Palin new the first thing about shooting or hunting, it would be a worthwhile production. This is just another Sarah Promotion, kind of like George Bush riding around his ranch in his F-350 and clearing brush. It's not who she really is.

I have had some training in the use of firearms. Watching Sarah Palin handle her rifle, I realized she has no experience and no confidence with them. Her hunting guide had to show her how to rest the weapon on a duffel bag to steady it. She's an actress.

Bush can't ride horses and Palin can't fire a gun.
