AP Via The IndependentIndonesian police said today they had arrested their most-wanted fugitive, a man believed to have an important role in terrorist activity.
Abu Tholut alias Mustofa is one of Indonesia's top wanted suspects after militant figures Noordin M Top and Dulmatin died at the hands of police last year.
He is accused of helping set up a terror network plotting attacks on foreigners at luxury hotels in Jakarta and several high-profile assassinations, including Indonesia's president.
Investigators confirmed the man arrested was Abu Tholut.
MetroTV and TVOne said he was arrested during a police raid at his house in Central Java's Kudus district.

Police have seized a Belgium-made 9 mm FN handgun and 22 bullets in the arrest of top terrorist suspect Abu Tholut, National Police deputy spokesman Brig. Gen. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana says. Yoga said Abu Tholut was arrested in Bae Pondok village, Kudus regency, Central Java, Kompas.com reported.

Indonesia's antiterror unit Densus 88 has arrested Abu Tholut, an alleged senior terrorist and mastermind behind a series of armed robberies across North Sumatra, on Friday morning, Central Java police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Djihartono said. “We cornered him in Kudus (Central Java) at 8 a.m.,” National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Iskandar Abubakar.
Iskandar said police investigators were questioning the suspect, and were trying to establish the nature of his connection to an Aceh-based terrorist cell.

The 48-year-old is a former instructor of the Jamaah Islamiyah military camp, and later established military training camps in the Philippines, and in the Aceh regency of Jantho.
