Al-Sadr City has come under helicopter and missile attack

Followers of Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr have continued to fight battles with occupation soldiers across the country after US authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.

Fierce clashes were heard overnight in al-Adhamiya neighbourhood and al-Sadr City suburb in Baghdad, reported Aljazeera's correspondent Aktham Sulayman on Tuesday. US occupation forces surrounded al-Adhamiya neighbourhood, but retreated early on Tuesday after fighting members of al-Sadr's militia, al-Mahdi Army.

An unknown number of Iraqis were killed and injured, reported Sulayman. In al-Sadr City, a stronghold of al-Sadr's followers, helicopters and tanks bombed the densely populated neighbourhood for the second day. It is unclear how many Iraqis were killed or injured.

There have been no reports of casualties among occupation forces during the latest clashes. On Monday, US helicopters attacked an al-Sadr office in Baghdad, leaving five Iraqis dead.

4. War crimes.

Targeting a civilian population with standoff weapons during a military occupation is, I believe, a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions. An occupying military force is responsible for establishing the "rule of law" (due process, etc.) and ensuring the safety of the civilian population.

"Only the little people obey international laws." (Busholini Adminstration)
