Columbus DispatchAfter facing criticism for planning to hold his official swearing-in ceremony early Monday in private, Gov.-elect John Kasich announced yesterday that it will be done in public at the Statehouse instead.
He also reversed himself on closing large portions of several other inauguration events, all of which will now be open as well. Previously, Kasich's inauguration committee had said reporters would be allowed to hear only the opening remarks at four events and then would be escorted out.

The incoming governor had cited security concerns and space limitations for closing the event, which precedes the public, ceremonial swearing-in and inaugural address set for noon Monday at the Ohio Theatre.
