Frist: Don't repeal health care bill
hornickewhitehouse2 By: CNN's Ed Hornick

Washington (CNN) - A top Republican has come out against efforts by his party to repeal President Obama's health care reform bill currently underway in the House.

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee, said at a press conference Tuesday at the Bipartisan Policy Center - an organization he chairs with former Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, among others - that the law should stand, according to The Huffington Post.

"It is not the bill that would have written," he said. "It is not the bill that I would have drafted. But it is the law of the land and it is the platform, the fundamental platform, upon which all future efforts to make that system better, for that patient, for that family, will be based."

He added: "The bill has many strong elements," Frist added later. "And those elements, whatever happens, need to be preserved, need to be cuddled, need to be snuggled, need to be promoted and need to be implemented. But how do you do it? How do you do a lot of what is in this law?"

2. The things they say when they are out of office
I am quite certain that if he was still in the Senate, he'd vote with all of his good ole boy Southern GOP friends.

4. Who would've thought!?
Meanwhile Mike Huckabee is endorsing and promoting efforts to repeal the President's health care bill on satellite TV. I feel like complaining to the network for running these ads. Now is the time for dems to get it together and start the cry of "republicans want to take away your health care." Not that they will be smart enough to strike up this rallying cry.

6. This is SUCH a smokescreen irrelevant issue...
Edited on Tue Jan-18-11 07:21 PM by ProudDad
This is another distraction...

The fucking pukes WON'T repeal the "Health Insurance and Big PhRMA Stimulus Act of 2010" -- no way, no how...

But they are effectively grabbing center stage again by causing the cowardly Dems to be in reaction mode instead of getting out front on more important issues...

Like jobs - direct aid to the economy instead of trickle down bullshit...

Like the MAJOR cause of unemployment -- the incredibly unequal distribution of resources/income in USAmerica...

And dangerous weapons in the hands of crazy people...

And lack of ANY health care for over 55 million USAmericans...and effective health care for another 50 million under-insured...

And 55 percent of discretionary spending being wasted on fucking war toys...

.....................

Way to go, pukes, you've still got the Dems by the balls...!

11. And the Democrats and M$M are VERY happy that they do...
As the real problems: economic collapse caused by Peak Oil, leeches on the financial system and the wars, wars, wars can be safely ignored while people's attention is distracted by these irrelevancies.

They are ALL in collusion to make sure that the corporations and war profiteers are held harmless...

What's the name of his outfit again?

Ah yes (thank you wikipedia) "He began his career as an heir and major stockholder to the for-profit hospital chain of Hospital Corporation of America."

12. There was never any doubt in my mind, the Republicans actually support the HCR Law.
The vast majority of their opposition BS is/was just for their average believers' consumption.

The Republicans' primary clients; for profit "health" insurance corporations are guaranteed a captured clientele via the mandate, this after having raped the American People repeatedly and a dysfunctional, illogical system will be institutionalized.

This is why I'm also certain there is a snowball's chance in hell that the Republican controlled Supreme Court would ever overturn this law as being unConstitutional.

I imagine Frist will be buying a large chunk of the for profit "health" insurance industry in the not too distant future to profit from this law and the American Peoples' health related miseries.

Thanks for the thread, kpete.
