Iraq rocked by fiercest fighting since war's end......updated
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4667742/

MSNBC staff and news service reports

Updated: 2:14 p.m. ET April 07, 2004BAGHDAD, Iraq

In the fiercest and most extensive fighting in Iraq since President Bush declared an end to major combat nearly a year ago, U.S. and allied troops battled insurgents in at least eight Iraqi cities on Wednesday.

In what was believed to be the day's deadliest single incident, U.S. Marines battling for control of Fallujah reportedly fired rockets that landed near a mosque, killing approximately 40 people, according to witnesses.

An Associated Press reporter in the city saw cars ferrying the bodies from the Abdul-Aziz al-Samarrai mosque. A wall surrounding the mosque was demolished, though the mosque itself was not damaged, the reporter, Abdul-Qader Saadi, said.

Witnesses said that three missiles had landed near the building as worshippers were gathering for afternoon prayers.

Marine officer: Troops took fire from compound
But Marine Lt. Col. Brennan Byrne told The Associated Press that he ordered the mosque attacked after his men came under fire from 30 to 40 insurgents inside and militants left the compound in an ambulance and shot at U.S. troops.

"If they use the mosque as a military machine, then it's no longer a house of worship and we strike," he said.

5. Yeah.
MSNBC headline: "Iraq rocked by fiercest fighting since war's end."

Does the media really think we're that stupid? The war has never ended, in spite of the media's collective attendance at the "Prance on the Aircraft carrier." People are still being killed. Lot's of them. If they must do propaganda, they should do it do it so as to have some respect for the dead.

That apparently is too much to ask.

There's no such thing as an innocent civilian in Iraq. Kill 'em all.

You're right, it is a bit out to lunch. There are a (very) few Iraqi Jews, and some Iraqi Christians; and those under two or three years old can still be reeducated. Just kill the rest, then move on to either Syria or Iran. Doesn't matter which order. Eventually, we can get to France, after having 'cleansed the Balkans' and settled 'The Indonesian Problem'.

Oh, yeah; I forgot; Nuke Mecca & Medina at the same time. After that we can explain how it isn't a war against Islam, just terrorists./S>

Weird how a few forget what the objective is, and who we aren't.

The second of those posts is a sarcastic reply to the first. That noted, it's telling that it's not implausible as a real post on FR. They sure enjoy anger.

Perplexing, isn't it, that some in the media just don't get it.

Hostiles is hostiles.. period.. end of story.

Er...they were talking about bush*'s mercenaries being reported as "civilian contractors" in order to fire up more jingoistic outrage among the uneducated republican base, weren't they?
