Winnipeg protest planned on Facebook

WINNIPEG students are using Facebook to organize a rally here to show support for protests in Egypt.

The use of the Internet to organize a protest is working in Winnipeg, just as it did in Cairo.

"I'm Egyptian and I can't help my country by being there, but I was talking to a group of friends on Facebook about what we can do," said Grade 12 student Khaled El Salakawy, 17.

Organizers started Saturday. The speed of the Internet linked interested young people as support was gathered and a public discussion was created on the site that now suggests the protest in Winnipeg may take place as early as this Saturday.
