Janet Napolitano: US terror threat highest since 9/11

The threat of terrorism against the US homeland is in some aspects "at its most heightened state" since the 9/11 attacks, US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has said.

"The terrorist threat facing our country has evolved significantly," she told members of Congress.

The US faced new threats by groups already inside the country, inspired by al-Qaeda, she said.

and being willing to do my part as a brown-skinned person, to help fight the terror wars, i am suggesting a new & simplified, 2-sided color scale. one column would show suspects, the other column possible victims. if victims fall in the darker-hued regions, responses could range from: "not an emergency", to: "don't have enough green". the suspect column can traipse from: "brown-skin & accent", to: "scary black dude wants to be president". most people who order their lives by color alerts, should be eminently capable of understanding & reacting - almost reflexively - to the double-whammy.

I never know what to make of these "alerts." It's not like they are all bogus. There are crazies out there, some are ours, some are theirs. They exist but I don't really know what I, as an individual, can do any more than I already do. Like the signs in the MTA "If you see something, say something."

I never have seen anything but I would say something if I did, whatever that might be.

good little Nazis. This time the warning will be worse that the infamous 'color code'. Via the microchips they will be able to interrupt all of our devices that use chips. It would be great if it were a true emergency (tornado warning, etc) but I think it has too much potential for abuse. Also these chips can be shut off. What Mubarak had to do with troops, Obama or the HS can do with the flip of a switch via Presidential Order.

I laughed this off until I went into Wally World and was subjected to Big Sis on those big overhead screens extolling me to say something if I see something. The only part of the budget that is a growth industry is HS and TSA. That tells me all I need to know.

The word just went out to all broadcasting stations on Monday. They were made to hook up to to the EBS AT EACH INDIVIDUAL STATION instead of directing their system to one EBS. While that may not seem to be a big thing, that makes it easier for the gov to control communications. If you think that is a good thing, just remember that FEMA cut all communications in NOLA right after Katrina. Remember the Mayor whose mother kept calling from the Nursing home and he was prevented from getting to her or contacting someone nearby until it was too late.

This is a dictator's wet dream.
