"Bin Laden determined to attack inside the United States"

As revealed by former Sen. Bob Kerrey, that was the title for the now-infamous Presidential Daily Brief for August 6, 2001.

In her testimony today, Ms. Rice had said that the PDB contained mostly "historical" information.

How could Bush have ignored this? If, as Ms. Rice claimed, it was historical information, why can't it be declassified so we can all read it?

what an incredible lie on his part, or his he just too damn stupid to have been able to make a logical conclusion about what was happening, given the nature of the August 6 brief?

In the first place, there was no live video of the first plane hitting the tower. A tourist video didn't surface until many hours after the fact, when Bush was already cowering in his bunker in Nebraska.

Bush had been told of the first strike before getting to that classroom. He was told of the second strike, and just sat there. SAT THERE. He didn't say "excuse me, children" and go to a phone for a fuller briefing. He didn't go do his job, make sure intercept planes were in the air and that all other flights were grounded. He didn't ask for casualty estimates, damage estimates, anything. He just SAT THERE while the kiddies droned on about a goat, continuing a totally meaningless photo op.

The only conclusion is that BUSH KNEW, and cared nothing.

When I first read about that, that was the moment I went from thinking 9/11 happened because of massive incompetence to thinking that this administration KNEW. This is the one thing I REALLY REALLY want the commissioners to ask Bush when he finally testifies.

then he knew what was going on. I suspect the he didn't read it but had Rice brief him on it. In her incompetence she completely missed the threat.
