Berlin - German Defence Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, considered the country's most popular politician, has been accused of plagiarism in his doctoral thesis, media reported Wednesday.
Several passages of Guttenberg's thesis were 'brazen plagiarism' and 'a deceit,' according to law professor Andreas Fischer-Lescano, cited in daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
Lengthy passages of Guttenberg's paper, drawing legal comparisons between the United States and the European Union, were almost identical to previously published texts by other authors, but lacked citation, the paper reported.
