Pressure mounts on US congresswoman to resign amid odd photos, other concerns
Source: The Canadian Press

SALEM, Ore. - A photo of a Democratic congressman wearing a tiger costume and other unusual revelations about his mental health are increasing pressure on him to step down.

But the Taiwan-born Rep. David Wu says he's not quitting even as an editorial in one of his state of Oregon's largest newspapers and the state Republican chairman called for his resignation.

Wu said this week that it was "unprofessional and inappropriate" to send pictures of himself wearing a tiger costume to staff members while he was in the middle of a heated campaign last year. Wu said the photos were taken while he was joking around with his children in October just before Halloween. He also acknowledged taking two tablets of a pain killer that were given to him by an unnamed campaign donor.

"This was the only time that this has ever happened," the congressman said in a statement of the pain killer episode. "I recognize that my action showed poor judgment at the time, and I sincerely regret having put my staff in a difficult position."

5. David Wu became a woman?
I hardly think that demands his resignation.

7. But it was a tiger suit! In Oregon! I bet you the Ducks are behind this push for him to resign.
And he was photographed in it right before Halloween! How is he fit to legislate with that type of scandal over his head. :scared:

The only issue I have here is he took prescription meds which were not his. That can be dangerous.

Other than that the entire thing is silly.

9. Article doesn't say it was precription pain reliever
For all we know it could have been 2 aspirin or two Motrin or two Tylenol or two Aleves or two Advils or a host of other perfectly legal pain relievers that people take every day.

10. good grief.
Oh, golly, he was wearing a tiger costume. Gasp! How...how controversial. :sarcasm:

Let's see: this is important to his fitness for doing the job, how? Not!

This sounds more like a let's smear Bill Clinton type campain, than an actual concern.

And...um...the congress person is male...not female.

Probably another poorly researched media article, yes?

13. I don't see what's wrong with that picture of him in a tiger costume.
He was playing around with his kids at Halloween. I thought it was a cute picture.

15. Wu is a good guy.
There's nothing wrong with wearing a costume at Halloween; it's not like he was wearing it to work.

There's nothing surprising, and nothing interesting, about Republican operatives and conservative newspapers calling for the resignation of a Democrat.

I'm looking forward to voting for Wu next year.

19. He sent a funny Halloween picture to his staff members.
That photo doesn't even come close to being odd. I don't see how it's questionable in the least. Why kind of tight ass would think this picture was a problem?

23. Imagine if he sent out Christmas cards
like Loretta Sanchez. I wish I could find one to scan. (I don't know how I got on her mailing list. I don't live in her district)

Her cat, Gretsky, who was always featured on the cards, died in 2010. He was 19.
