Rep. Capuano regrets urging union supporters to get 'bloody'
Source: USA Today

A Democratic congressman who told union supporters earlier this week they should "get a little bloody" apologized today for his heated rhetoric.

Rep. Michael Capuano, D-Mass., said his passion may have gotten in the way when he addressed a Boston crowd on Tuesday that had gathered to protest Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's proposal to curb collective bargaining rights.

"I strongly believe in standing up for worker rights and my passion for preserving those rights may have gotten the best of me...in an unscripted speech," he said in a statement. "I wish I had used different language to express my passion and I regret my choice of words."

Capuano, first elected in 1998, is considering a bid for U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican Scott Brown in 2012.

1. Apologizing is a sign of weakness and capitulation
Never apologize, even when you know you're wrong.

2. What it the purpose of posting this headline from USA Today?
I just don't understand.

Seems like something one would see proudly displayed in Freeperville.

4. Because it's news? I thought that the purpose of Latest Breaking News
was to post news stories. This is a legitimate news story so I see nothing wrong with it.

7. This happened two days ago?
...and USA Today is "reporting" it now?

I wonder how fast "reporters" would dig up the "Dem urges violence" incident to counter the firing of Indiana Deputy Attorney General Jeff Cox yesterday.

After all, "both sides do it."

3. He should have noted that it was union members who usually were killed...
in the struggle to establish unions and that he was merely referring to that fact metaphorically.

13. Why don't you just post another article which reports on Rep. Capuano's apology in a better light?

15. Why would anyone want Democrats to be uninformed on what is going on in the news?
Democrats can't be effective advocates for the party if they don't know what is going on the world.

8. Mike Capuano can be a bit excitable
But he's an excellent congress-critter. It was just a poor choice of words, probably spoken in the heat of the moment. He's a very strong supporter of labor.
