Al Qaida commander backs Libyan rebels in message
Source: Jerusalem Post

A senior member of al Qaida urged Libyan rebels to continue their fight against Muammar Gaddafi and warned of the consequences of defeat, in a videotaped message posted on Jihadi websites, the Qatar-based Gulf News reported on Sunday.

The message from Libya native, Abu Yahya al-Libi, marked the first time a top ranked al Qaida commander had commented on the uprising in Libya. Gaddafi has repeatedly blamed al Qaida for inciting the unrest against him.

“The Libyan people have suffered at the hands of Gaddafi for more than 40 years ... He used the Libyans as a testing ground for his violent, rambling and disgusting thoughts,” Abu Yahya stated.

He warned that "Retreating will mean decades of harsher oppression and greater injustices than what you have endured.”

al Qaida is really a branch of CIA, working for the Military Industry Complex.

We will have a war on terror FOREVER.

Ask youself this question - What is the biggest spending item from the tax money collected from the US taxpayers?

The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a 3 part BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis.
The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organized force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies.

3. Hey guys, hey guys, we're still relevant! Hey hey! Hey!
This plays right into the hands of interventionists in the US, that want to invade and bomb in Libya. Quell surprise.

It's like a press release right off the desk of the neocons.

10. the most organized armed force at the start of the resistance movement in the east
was a group called the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group(*). They have the longest history of armed resistance to the Colonel's little game. Also happen to be the Libyan formation of al-Qai'dah in the Islamic Maghreb. While the Colonel's statements on the subject are rambling and ridiculous (bin Laden out to get him by poisoning their Nescafe), they are not entirely false or baseless.

One portion of Abu Yahya's statement is particularly interesting--paraphrased, it would be insulting to the People for him to be allowed to die a peaceful death, like the first two dominoes, `bin Ali and Mubarak, will under the protection of Saudi Arabia and Israel. In other words, advising the resistance to not allow any Western imperialist compromise designed to allow their collaborator to escape.

(*)--not counting the national Army and similar forces that may have defected

11. Gaddafi sounds nuttier than he is to people (like me)
who know little of Libya. When you chase down what he says, there is usually some grain of truth.

Remember Afghan Girl?

1984

In December 1984, Afghanistan was five years into a bloody civil war between the Soviet Union, which sought to maintain a Marxist government there, and anti-government Islamic rebels called mujahideen.

A Mystery for Years

Her name was Sharbat Gula, which means "sweetwater flower girl" in Pashtu, the language of her Pashtun tribe.
