2 minutes ago Add Top Stories - Reuters to My Yahoo!

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - One airman was killed and two wounded in a mortar attack on a U.S. airbase north of Baghdad on Saturday, the U.S. army said in a statement.

The statement said one of the wounded was in a serious condition following the attack on Balad airbase. The other injured man was treated and released from hospital.

The death brings to at least 456 the number of U.S. troops killed in action since the start of the U.S.-led war in Iraq (news - web sites).

4. Key words are
"killed in action". Real number counting all deaths over there is over 650 now.

5. The ball-less media are now
ususally using only the number Killed-in-action instead of the total number of troops who have died to make the loss appear smaller.

3. I think the poster meant 654...but I could be wrong.
It sure is a lot more than 456.

6. Mathematics
I've been hearing about coalition troops deaths every day; yet for the past three days, all over the news (worldwide) they always talk about a total of about 40 coalition casualties since the beginning of the uprising.
Now i've never been a math wiz but shouldn't the total change a little every day (not that i want this number to rise at all)?

7. Here's the best place to find collated 'official' casualty counts

It says 652 US military dead as of 1:29 PM CDT today. It tends to be a few hours behind, however.

8. thanks for the link.
I just can't stand THESE numbers being played with (both side's casualties deserve a little more respect and so do the families who have lost someone in this tragedy.)
