Michigan Cuts Jobless Benefit by Six Weeks
Source: The New York Times

Michigan, whose unemployment rate has topped 10 percent longer than that of any other state, is about to set another record: its new Republican governor, Rick Snyder, signed a law Monday that will lead the state to pay fewer weeks of unemployment benefits next year than any other state.

Democrats and advocates for the unemployed expressed outrage that a such a hard-hit state will become the most miserly when it comes to how long it pays benefits to those who have lost their jobs. All states currently pay up to 26 weeks of unemployment benefits, before extended benefits paid by the federal government kick in. Michigan’s new law means that starting next year, when the federal benefits are currently set to end, the state will stop paying benefits to the jobless after just 20 weeks. The shape of future extensions is unclear.

The measure, passed by a Republican-led Legislature, took advocates for the unemployed by surprise: the language cutting benefits next year was slipped quietly into a bill that was originally sold as way to preserve unemployment benefits this year.

4. Be careful what you wish for...
the bodies on the ropes may not be the people you want to see hanged.

2. And again, I'd like to thank Obama voters who stayed at home watching Jersey Shore.

Last Fall you basically just negated Obama's Presidency and thrust us into a new age of insanity.

5. Don't be silly. Obama himself fostered this when his true agenda was revealed.
When the block of new voters energized by Obama in 2008 realized that they were misled and tricked into what is essentially bush's third term, they were understandably dissuaded from any future interest in politics.

They stole our money and we want it back. Not to buy gaudy yachts and private jets, but to feed our goddamned families and provide a life for our children.

7. Michigan unemployment
doesn't affect just Democrats. There must be one or two Republicans who voted for this yahoo Snyder that have since lost their jobs. Or does Snyder have a secret slush fund to help his loyal constituents over the tough times?
