By SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer

FORT HOOD, Texas - For the second straight year, President Bush (news - web sites) was celebrating Easter Sunday at Fort Hood, whose troops have come under deadly attacks in Iraq (news - web sites).

Bush made the 50-mile helicopter flight from his Crawford ranch, arriving as a light rain fell and telling reporters, "Happy Easter." It was the president's first public appearance since he arrived for an Easter break on his ranch on April 5.

At least nine troops from the base were killed in Iraq in the past week. Thirty-one troops from Fort Hood who were wounded in a firefight in Baghdad last week were airlifted back to the central Texas base for medical treatment and family reunions.

<snip>
The soldiers were wounded April 4 at the outset of one of the deadliest weeks of street fighting in the 13-month-old conflict. Seven soldiers from Fort Hood died in the same skirmish, officials said.

.....Lookie, we have a real cowboy pResident*... :puke:

3. File this under "Who Cares"?
Who cares what that war criminal is doing? Wow, how big of him to take time out from his much needed, well-deserved vacation (how many does this make now since he's been in office?) to fly a whole 50 miles in a helicopter to visit the stateside troops? What? No fake ham on a platter in Iraq? No, flight suit showing his manly bulge?

My disgust for this person knows no bounds. Heaven forbid if he were to visit the wounded and families of the dead. Maybe he can regale the troops at Fort Hood with some of his hilarious jokes about not finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

U.S. Helicopter Shot Down in Baghdad
Updated 9:05 AM ET April 11, 2004
By LOURDES NAVARRO

FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - Gunmen shot down a U.S. attack helicopter during fighting in western Baghdad on Sunday, and the fate of its two-member crew was unknown. Insurgents and Marines called a cease-fire in the besieged city of Fallujah, but the fragile peace was shaken by a gunbattle that wounded two Americans.

A pall of black smoke rose on Baghdad's western edge where a military spokesman said the AH-64 Apache helicopter was downed by ground fire in the morning. More helicopters circled overhead, while U.S. troops closed off the main highway _ a key supply route into the capital.

"The condition of the (Apache's) crew is unknown," the spokesman said.

48. Pilot was a local Guy
I heard both were killed in the copter. The pilot was from 2 counties north of me.They interviewed his brother on the evening news today, the brother said "he did not care if people are against the war,his brother died for freedom." In spite of the facts that bush made up the reasons to go to war,the guy still clings to the illusion. What can you say to people with a mindset like that.

7. I'm disappointed
I expected an "unexpected super secret" visit to Iraq with a plastic ham.

The least he could do would be to go Fallujah, stand on top of a tank and yell "bring it on" --- now that would make a great photo op!

50. "Hee-yuck, lookit what a yokel I is!"
It must be particularly annoying for rural Americans, to have to watch him pretending to be an uneducated slob. I know plenty of people who grew up on REAL farms and ranches who are intelligent and dignified -- no wonder it burns them up to see such a horrible caricature on TV. I have heard people with Texas or Southern accents speaking French, explaining complex mathematical equations, and discussing social theory or the international implications of global warming -- and I have to admit that I was shocked the first time I saw Mr. Bush carrying on like a comic-book hick, and smirking all the while.

US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush
They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.

Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.

Sunday's is "Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding".

Monday's reads "Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics".

This is a TAX EXEMPT organization running propaganda to our friends and families at WAR. I am outraged!!

They look like $2.00 hookers in their outfits. A denim jacket over an Easter dress? The green and white thing looks like a 1970's dress, and that huge sweater over it?

Secret service guy looks like he absolutely hates the babysitting job. Probably had to confiscate their liquor.

You can tell the little green one was mad because she had to borrow her mom's sweater. She wanted to show more of herself thinking that Paris Hilton would have to step aside- ha!

Not appropriate at all to represent the USA. But then their parents can't handle them so how can we expect Momm and Pop to handle the country!

I thought they were so eager to campaign for their dad this year?

Wow! This is their real entry into the '04 election!
