Texas GOP Picks Congressional Nominees

By MICHAEL GRACZYK, Associated Press Writer

HOUSTON - Texas Republicans picked their congressional nominees in five runoff elections Tuesday in districts redrawn last year by the GOP-controlled Legislature.

The new congressional map could give the Republicans control in November of the state's Washington delegation, now split 16-16.
(snip)

The 10th District contest is the most expensive congressional race in the country. Political rookies Ben Streusand and Michael McCaul spent a total of $5 million in a bid to claim the newly configured district for the Republicans.

Since there is no Democratic contender in the Austin-to-Houston district, the GOP runoff winner will take the seat.

1. They got it wrong about the 10th...
there is a Democrat running as a write-in candidate. He's supposed to be announcing today.

2. Same same.
You can't win that seat as a write-in Democrat without incriminating pictures with a dead animal.

Probably even then.

4. Maybe Not, But
A Democrat's chances in the Perry-mandered Tenth Texas Congressional District might not be the very best, but I refuse to vote for either of the two GOP bozos running against each other in the GOP primary runoff. I'll vote for the Democratic candidate regardless. I was even willing to vote for myself if no Democratic write-in candidate emerged.
