50 Alaska homes evacuated after explosives found
Source: USA Today

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — State troopers said residents from about 50 homes were evacuated after the discovery of 550 pounds of explosives in an abandoned station wagon.

An explosives team from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson destroyed the material Saturday morning in the Trapper Creek area and no one was injured.

Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says authorities were alerted to the ammonium nitrate and nitroglycerine Friday by the property owner who apparently just wanted to get rid of the material. The explosives were up to 20 years old and unstable.

After they were detonated, residents were allowed to return to their homes.

5. Oh no, where's my car...
Yeah, just keeping ammonium nitrate and nitroglycerine around for kicks.

"okay, you kids, go out and play, but just don't go near the station wagon, okay?"

20 fucking years with nitro in it? Unstable? Yeah think? Cripes, it's a miracle it it wasn't detonated just by a butterfly landing on it.

we live in a world of stupid.
