TX Teacher Who Accused Girl Of Grieving Over Bin Laden Not Returning To Work

TPMDC | Evan McMorris-Santoro and Melissa Jeltsen | May 9, 2011, 4:17PM

The Texas high school teacher who allegedly told a Muslim girl in his ninth grade algebra class that "http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/05/tx-teacher-suspended-after-telling-muslim-student-i-bet-youre-grieving.php">I bet that you're grieving" over the death of Osama bin Laden will not be returning to work, a school spokesperson tells TPM.

The teacher was http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/05/tx-teacher-suspended-after-telling-muslim-student-i-bet-youre-grieving.php">suspended last week after the girl complained about his comments to her, which came the day after bin Laden was killed by American forces in Pakistan. The girl's name has been kept out of reporting on the case, and a spokesperson for the Clear Creek Independent School District would not immediately release the name of the teacher to TPM.

The incident took place at Clear Brook High School near Houston. Parents and fellow students were outraged by the teacher's remarks to the girl, which allegedly included him calling bin Laden "your uncle."

1. Good.
The racism I see on a daily basis over the Arab world is unbelievable. And it's just "no biggie" even on leftist sites.

3. Her uncle? What a hateful thing to say, if true. Sad she had to hear
this from a teacher.

5. Ah, lovely.
Anybody else catch the irony that the topic was Algebra?

"While the word algebra comes from the Arabic language (al-jabr, الجبر literally, restoration) and much of its methods from Arabic/Islamic mathematics, its roots can be traced to earlier traditions, most notably ancient Indian mathematics, which had a direct influence on Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī (c. 780–850). He learned Indian mathematics and introduced it to the Muslim world through his famous arithmetic text, Book on Addition and Subtraction after the Method of the Indians.<3><4> He later wrote The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing, which established algebra as a mathematical discipline that is independent of geometry and arithmetic.<5>"

6. Why is the identity of this fool being protected? Is he exempt from facing the consequences
of his actions?

He should be available to receive all the hearty congratulations from his right-wing racist cohorts, and for the words of advice and recognition from those of us who'd like to share our thoughts and feelings with him.

Every article I've seen so far refers to him as the Math Teacher. Hope someone who's familiar with the teaching staff there will share his identity with the world.

...Bin Ladin instead of capturing him....

But this action of accusing a person of being a terrorist sympathizer simply by being Muslim.....wow, another low in our educational system. And to think how for 8 years we were accused of being terrorist sympathizers if we opposed the invasion of a country.
