Kerry Statement on President's News Conference
2 hours, 12 minutes ago

WASHINGTON, April 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senator John Kerry issued the following statement tonight in response to the President's news conference:

"Tonight, the President had the opportunity to tell the American people what steps he was going to take to stabilize the situation in Iraq (news - web sites). Unfortunately, he offered no specific plan whatsoever. Rather, the President made it clear that he intends to stubbornly cling to the same policy that has led to a greater risk to American troops and a steadily higher cost to the American taxpayer.

<chop>

"The President may refuse to acknowledge a single mistake in the course of his presidency, but with deaths mounting and American sacrifice increasing, it's time he offered a specific plan that secures real international involvement, gets the target off the backs of our troops, and starts to share the burden in Iraq."

1. Go Kerry! Go Kerry!
Maybe his statement will give the talking heads the cajones to tell the truth about the disaster monkey's fiasco tonight. Oh, but he was "humble..."

3. WTF? "Redacted by the White House"?
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 11:11 PM by BostonTeaParty04
So, does ALL published material go through the white house these days?????

Even opponent's commentary???

WTF????

I am trying to get the link to work... and it just times out on me.

I checked yahoo... can't find this article....

WTF????

EDIT: found the article on yahoo. There is nothing saying 'redacted by white house'... only a snipped paragraph that the original poster did not include, understandably.

KleverKittie.... was that 'redacted' nonsense in the article when you posted it, or was that YOUR redaction???? It's pretty serious if the white house is reviewing the news before it gets published....

5. LOL, you fooled me!
I expect the very worst from the bush maladministration, and it wouldn't surprise me if they did review ALL news.

My friend said that at her college, in the normally porn section of the mag racks, they have no porn. They do have art magazines, and there is a painting of a nude woman. The store put a Cautionary label on it as 'adult content' Regular ART!!!!

This is a scary freeper country.

8. Beautifully put.
This isn't Kerry's war, regardless of how pissed off I (and many others) are about the fact that our nominee essentially green-lighted the whole thing. At any rate, it's not Kerry's war. And it's quite clear that the media isn't likely to blame Kerry for any part of this, nor expect an absolutely perfect plan from him, right now.

He's wise to express remorse about the course and casualties, as he certainly seems to be more pained by the situation, and to pressure Bush for a plan. It's a good climate to begin to formulate an offense.

9. The problem is that Kerry is NOT going to bring the troops home either!
Kerry thinks that he can "Vietnamize" Iraq, I think he calls it "de-Americanize" the conflict, which is as much a miserable failure of a policy as Bush's.
