Firefight in Fallujah
Firefight in Fallujah
From The Associated Press
April 14, 2004, 8:38 AM EDT

FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. warplanes and helicopters hammered gunmen Wednesday, straining a truce in besieged Fallujah. With more troops killed, April became the deadliest month for American forces since they set foot in Iraq.

To the south, a 2,500-strong U.S. force massed on the outskirts of the holy city of Najaf for a showdown with a radical cleric, raising fears of a U.S. attack that would outrage the nation's relatively pro-U.S. Shiite majority.

Russia said it would evacuate hundreds of its workers from Iraq after an outbreak kidnappings in which at least 22 foreigners still are held captive.

U.S. troops were holding back their full firepower on both fronts to allow Iraqis to try to negotiate a resolution, but President Bush said he was prepared to send more troops and had told his commanders to be ready to use "decisive force."

1. "Truce"
I am sick and tired of this being referred to as a "truce." What makes it a truce, the notion that we're not using our "full firepower" yet?

The way media and our "leaders" abuse the language is infuriating.

11. It was only a truce in that they needed time to reload the breaches
Like the old addage when they have drive by shooting in L.A. "Honk if your reloading"

This whole pretext for so much of this WAR,WAR,WAR b.s. is 9/11. None of this would be able to have been done without it. Think about it

Try this story on for awhile

9-11 Commission stonewalls TWA 800 author

Dear Chairman Kean,

Al Salzenberg of the 9-11 staff suggested I write you a letter to express my dissatisfaction with the progress of the 9-11 Commission.

On or about Feb. 20, I talked to Mr. Salzenberg at some length about one very specific concern I had with the commission. I was impressed with the time he gave me and the fact that he seemed, at least, to take my information seriously.

My concern was with the presence of former Clinton Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick on the commission. Immediately after the crash of TWA Flight 800 in July 1996, Justice Department attorney Valerie Caproni fully ignored existing statutes and gave the FBI power over the National Transportation Safety Board in the management of the investigation.

In a stroke, as I explained to Mr. Salzenberg, the Clinton Justice Department hermetically sealed the investigation and silenced the independent voices of the NTSB. Ms. Caproni could not have acted on her own authority. As the "political officer" equivalent in the Justice Department, Ms. Gorelick likely orchestrated this takeover – one that all parties now acknowledge to have been illegal.

On Aug. 22, 1996, just a few days before the start of the Democratic National Convention, Ms. Gorelick oversaw a critical Justice Department meeting with the FBI. Immediately after this meeting, as it happened, all serious inquiry into the fate of TWA 800 came to an end.
(snip)

I suggest it's time to put it back in their face

2. Demonstrating force
during the negotiations of a truce or cease-fire can be very persuasive and effect an agreement much quicker than a stale-mate or seige.

3. I just hope that the Iraqis are
successful in ridding their country of the US agressor. I hate to see US troops hurt or killed - each of those injuries and deaths must be placed on the Emperor's doorstep - but none of these problems or events are of the Iraqis' making. All of these problems - ALL OF THEM - have been caused and are being caused by this nation's blood-thirsty agression. We are criminals and we have no honor.

Along with millions of fellow marchers, and thousands of posters on this board. This is just another Bush lie.

5. The Aries Eclipse approacheth
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 11:00 AM by SpiralHawk
Monday, April 19, 2004 at 29 degrees of Aries -- right at the ultimate end of the RAM. This is the first of the Fire Signs, special province of the WASP.

We are already feeling it.

Fer sure.

What dark forces are building to shadow the Sun?

How might their polar Light forces create a profound moment of reflection? A course correction? A headlong plunge into the flames? Connection with the halo?

What are you doing?

What are WE doing?

And what in the Blue Zapata Blazes of the super-seKreT Skull and Bones Society is the "appointed," "annointed," and formerly AWOL kOmmAndeR in Chief* doing?

12. spent a few days without dropping the 500-pound bombs
AMY GOODMAN: What about the U.S. government saying that it is calm now in Fallujah, that there is a cease-fire?

RAHUL MAHAJAN: Well, they were saying that when I was there, and there was no cease-fire. I mean, I think what they did was they spent a few days without dropping the 500-pound bombs, which is what they were using, 500-pound bombs on residential areas is a terrifying thing. They were not using those, so they called it a "cease-fire". But, as I said, the snipers were sniping everywhere. There was a constant stream of wounded into the hospitals. This tiny little makeshift clinic had a dozen people come in, and there would have been far more if there weren't entire sections of the town cut off by the snipers and incapable of getting someone from one place to the clinic without being killed. So I think the claim of a cease-fire was a joke and I see no reason to believe it now, either.

14. Straining a truce?
"Warplanes and helicopters hammered gunmen"

Hmmm. Some new meaning of the word 'truce' I wasn't aware of before. I must consult my Webster's more often.

Now a new word to chew on, "truce" - this has to be the most shameful administration in the history of our country.
