Iran may have hacked inspectors’ phones

VIENNA — The UN nuclear agency is investigating reports from its specialists that their cellphones and laptops may have been hacked into by Iranian officials looking for confidential information while the equipment was left unattended during inspection tours in the Islamic Republic, diplomats have said.

One of the diplomats said the International Atomic Energy Agency is examining “a range of events, ranging from those where it is certain something has happened to suppositions,’’ all this year. He said the nuclear watchdog agency was alerted by inspectors reporting “unusual events.’’

Two other diplomats in senior positions confirmed the essence of the report. All three envoys come from member nations of the International Atomic Energy Agency and spoke on condition of anonymity because their information was privileged.

1. I assume the IAEA would take that as a given and take steps to deal with it.
Especially since countries like Iran believe the IAEA has spies among its inspectors.

2. Considering that we sabotaged their nuclear plants
with a military grade computer virus, it does not appear to be out of line for Iran to hack the IAEA phones.
