(Jack) Kevorkian hospitalized for pneumonia, kidney trouble
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- Assisted-suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian has been hospitalized in Michigan for pneumonia and a kidney-related ailment, his attorney said Thursday.

The 82-year-old former pathologist has struggled with kidney problems for years and had checked into a hospital earlier this month for similar problems, his lawyer, Mayer Morganroth, told CNN. He checked back into Beaumont Hospital in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak on Wednesday after suffering a relapse Wednesday night, Morganroth said.

"He has some testing to have done," Morganroth said Thursday on his way to the hospital. "He's a little tired, but he's doing all right," he added.

Officials at Beaumont Hospital could not comment, citing confidentiality policies and privacy clauses.

2. Why is he a hypocrite?
He never said that everyone who was sick should die and not receive treatment for end-of life diseases...rather, he gave people assistance in ending their lives when they wished. At the time, there was no "death with dignity" laws like in Oregon and WA.

3. Excuse me? You mean just because he thinks others' wishes should be
considered and honored, means he has to have the same wishes as those he wanted to help? WTF? He never suggested anyone should want to die or DNR or be euthanized, he just thought that if one wanted the option, it should be honored in a humane way.

4. Just wanted to add, this is the same as saying that people who are
pro-Choice are "pro-Abortion" which isn't at all true. Choice means choice, to choose to or not to abort, (or in this instance to or not to want medically assisted euthanasia), it doesn't mean someone who is pro-choice must decide to abort every pregnancy she (or in the case of a man, his partner) has.

8. He didn't "kill" anyone. I hope some day people recognize him for his service to mankind.

When people are suffering and things are only going to get worse, Euthanasia should be an alternative. I hope he recovers.

9. THe people he "killed" (as you put it) SOUGHT HIM OUT
for assistance with euthanasia. He didn't put an ad in the paper, or boonswaggle people into getting euthanised. People with terminal, end-stage disease, who were in 24-hour pain, sought out his services. He did not mislead anyone into what euthanasia was. These were people who wanted to end their lives in a way that was certain to bring death...unlike "home made" ways (guns, poisioning, hanging) which are painful, messy, and frequently unsuccessful.

10. Thank you Heddi
You said it all so very well! My daughter's knew an elderly woman that begged her son I couldn't tell you how many time's for him to call Kevorkian. She was in such terrible pain & it took allot for her son to abide by her wishes.

13. That is just an ignorant statement. He gave people choices. That's all.
He didn't advocate for DNR is that is not what someone wanted. So where is the hypocrisy?

6. Kervorkian
It's Ironic that this is the same hospital that he dropped off the bodies of those he assisted to end their lives.
