Obama issues 8 presidential pardons

President Obama pardoned eight people Friday for a range of offenses, from distributing drugs to the illegal sale of American alligator hides.

This is the second group of pardons issued by the president. Obama pardoned nine people in December, many of whom were convicted of minor drug crimes and did not serve jail time.

The most recent pardons went to Randy Eugene Dyer, who was convicted of conspiracy to import marijuana; Danny Alonzo Levitz, conspiracy; Michael Ray Neal, modification and distribution of equipment for unauthorized decryption of satellite cable programming; Edwin Alan North, transfer of a firearm without payment of transfer tax; Allen Edward Peratt Sr., conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Christine Marie Rossiter, conspiracy to distribute less than 50 kilograms of marijuana; Patricia Ann Weinzatl, structuring transactions to evade reporting requirements; and Bobby Gerald Wilson, aiding and abetting the possession and sale of illegal American alligator hides.
