By Muhanad Mohammed

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A string of bombings killed at least 15 people and wounded 74 more across Baghdad on Sunday and two U.S. troops were killed in central Iraq, officials said.

At least 11 Iraqi troops were killed when a bomber blew up his car among a group of soldiers investigating another car bomb outside a checkpoint on a main street in Taji, 20 km (12 miles) north of Baghdad, said the capital's security spokesman, Major-General Qassim al-Moussawi.

"Two vehicles exploded in Taji. The first was a parked car bomb. They were trying to defuse it, when another driver blew himself up," he said.

The two U.S. troops were killed on Sunday during operations in central Iraq, the U.S. military said in a statement with no further details of when or how they died.

1. When Obama declared an End to Combat Operations in Iraq™ last Sept, I'll...
...bet the soldiers' parents were hopeful to see their sons and daughters out of harm's way.

I know I would have been hopeful if it were my son or daughter. I guess that wasn't in the cards for their children- I mean, the US has to make sure Iraq doesn't become a lawless sectarian wasteland whose government regularly asks us to leave.

If the parents get bitchy, they just need to take a look at this and chill the fuck out...

'Nuff said?

:sarcasm:

Those were two brave, highly trained Americans who are fucking dead now- and for what? I bet you both of them were intelligent, witty, thoughtful and probably a lot of other nice qualities that nobody will ever get to sample again. A fading color picture on a mantle, a gold star in the window and no more chances.

And they're not the last. Oh, ho ho...far from it!

7. Just because they volunteer doesn't mean we don't have a responsibility to them.
To send national treasure into that bullshit meat grinder is irresponsible, dishonorable. To keep them there, just as bad.

8. Do soldiers enlist knowing they'll be killed thanks to their government's stupidity/duplicity?

17. Let me further clarify
These guys are warriors. Let us not cast PITY upon them; nay, instead they merit our appreciation and awe.

They gave their life for their nation.

They will be immortalized forever.

Stating that their deaths are meaningless only serves to harm their legacies.
