Jewish Family in Fla. Reports Vandalism
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - A Jewish family embroiled in a lawsuit over the use of prayer at school board meetings believes they were targeted by vandals after finding red paint splattered on their home. Steven Rosenauer told authorities he thought last week's incident was a ``calculated act.'' According to a police report, someone threw three buckets of red paint at the family's truck, garage and front door.

None of the other homes in the neighborhood was vandalized, raising the possibility that the Rosenauers were targeted, officials said.

In February, Rosenauer sued to block the Manatee County School Board from opening its meetings with the Lord's Prayer. School officials were supposed to substitute a non-denominational prayer, but the family said there have been repeated Christian references.

2. I hope all these Jewish people that have been siding with these Chistian
religious nuts recently will see this.

3. Yeah, I don't understand those folks.
Any one of my fellow Jews who would side with Bush* is seriously uninformed.

6. Glad my remark was supported by some one in the Jewish community
I thought hard about that post. And it may be bias of me to notice the Jewish people that support Bush with so many more WASP and Catholics supporting him even when it goes to percentages. I guess it just surprises me given the history I know of Jewish people (post WW2) strong supporters of civil rights and other progressive causes. And there are Krugman, Franken, and others, our voice would sound so lame with out progressive Jewish people. So I just I feel surprised. Have you as a Jewish person notice a movement of your fellow Jews to the right?

7. The majority of Jews vote Democratic.
This is from January, and I'm sure the Republican support has only dropped since then.

American Voters Still Closely Divided
Monday, January 26, 2004
By Peter Brownfeld

<snip>
According to the 2004 Annual Survey of American Jewish Opinion (search) released Jan. 12, the Jewish vote is still overwhelmingly Democratic, though the Republican Party has managed to nearly double its share of the Jewish vote.

The percentage of Jews who considered themselves Republican leapt from 9 percent in 2000 to 16 percent in 2003. More than half of those surveyed identified themselves as Democrats, and about one-third said they were independent.

"As the latest poll makes clear, Jewish voters continue to support Democratic candidates because of shared values and a common approach on important issues. Republicans' boasts that they will attract a major share of the Jewish vote will not work because their strategy is not based on substance or real issues," Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe said in a statement following the survey's release.

8. Yes, I Know. I said that in second post on this thread. I should have
been more clear. The article does say that "Republicans have managed to double its share of the Jewish vote". Which is what I am trying to say here it just seems like more Jewish people are supporting Repugs, especially since the late 90s.

10. That story has a little disconnect.
9% of Jews voted for Bush*. The same 16% may have been Republicans then, but have voted for Gore anyway because Bush* is so awful.

11. Still says "2003", Note Gore's VP was Lieberman, fairly conservative, yet
only 2% more Jews voted for Gore over Clinton. Look at the 2002 Congressional/mid term races, it shows a trend to Republicans. On the "Independent" thing, that is a nice way of saying Republican or Republican leaning. I would not be surprised if Bush got 40% or maybe half of the Jewish vote in 2004. Look at yesterday's announcement with Sharon, that was politically motivated.

9. I'll betcha' my soul that Islamists had nothing to do with this,..
,...particularly since the Islamic faith has demonstrated far more "evidence" of being, not only tolerant but also respectful of other "faiths".

It is shameful that anyone would demean another in such ways.

Whenever anyone demonizes another in such a personal manner due to any affiliation, it is proof of biggotry.
