Republicans Fear Iraq War Fallout (AP\CommonDreams)
<snip>

ST. PAUL - Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican ally of President Bush, says Iraq is "a mess" and voters are rattled. He ought to know: He's attending two funerals this week of servicemen killed in the Persian Gulf nation.

"People are becoming unnerved by it," said Pawlenty, who also is co-chairman of Bush's state campaign. "Minnesota communities are strong and tough, but people do want to know, 'What's the end game here?'"

Pawlenty discussed the political implications of Iraq hours after attending the Tuesday funeral of Cpl. Tyler Fey of Eden Prairie, who was killed April 4 in Iraq's Al Anbar province. Two other soldiers from Minnesota died in Iraq last week.

At Fey's funeral, his brother, Ryan, told hundreds of mourners, "I have so much anger for the politicians in Washington." Their policies "sent my brother on a second tour of Iraq after I thought he'd done his part in the initial invasion," Fey said.

Amen Brother Ryan... Amen!!!

21. The 'cleanising' needs to start at the Congressional level
We must vote the power-base out of office. An all out war should be declared against Republican Congress...starting with Tom Delay.

3. A lot of Americans knew this was a bad idea to start with.
Even if Saddam had WMD, what would have been the reasoning for invading Iraq instead of North Korea, or Iran, or numerous other countries run by hostile dictators who don't like the U.S.?

We can't go around the world stomping on people just because they have oil that Dick Cheney wants to sell and claiming that we are doing it "for the good of the people" and expect to get away with it forever.

17. THANK YOU!
My God, some logic! You mentioned the elephant in the room, my friend.

Even if Saddam had WMD, what would have been the reasoning for invading Iraq instead of North Korea, or Iran, or numerous other countries run by hostile dictators who don't like the U.S.?

Exactly. The whole WMD thing was a red herring from Day One.

4. As republicans of good faith
come to terms with what their pResident hath wrought (in every area) we should support these nascent qualms and tremors of unease.

7. Pawlenty is just
one of the many Republican props to GW. Why they do it is beyond my comprehension. Can't they see we are going downhill and they will go with us? Don't they want a future for themselves? After seeing and hearing the puppet speak last night, most are still enabling him to continue to ruin all of us. That was the worst PC from the worst pResident we have ever had. Nixon was an angel compared to what we have now. I become more and more depressed about the situation by the day.

it's all about them, isn't it? Soldiers are dying, Iraqi people - children - are dying, and all they can think about is election fallout. F***ing bastards.

9. It's about time ...
they feel some of the stress we've all been feeling. They rolled over and played dead for the Bushies ... let them do whatever they wanted to without offering the slightest resistance. Now it's coming back to haunt them. They thought they lived in a bubble and they could go "untouched" by Shrub's lunatic agenda. Instead, they're in danger of being voted out by their constituents. Also, I think they've finally begun to realize that they're children and grandchildren are going to have to live with the consequences of their inaction.

They put the "party" ahead of the people they were elected to represent ... and eventually, they're going to pay for it.

11. So As The Republicans Sow, So May They Reap
The Republicans are worried about political fallout from the Iraq war? Now isn't that a gosh-darn shame? So as the ruthless, arrogant, authoritarian-minded and bullying Republican Party sows, so may it reap. They don't deserve any sympathy and I've none to give them.

If Republicans and their "Conservative" movement masters wonder why Democrats, leftists, liberals, moderates, and even moderate conservatives, have no empathy for them, they're too stupid and clueless for words.

12. two words... hubris and greed...
...it's what the entire mideast mess boils down to. gee-dubya and his neocon band of criminals have ushered in the worst possible situation, and no one @ $hrubco has the faintest idea how to navigate, much less end this mess. And guess what, it's just the beginning. We have now managed to alienate the ENTIRE Muslim world, in addition to pissing off most of our former friends and allies.

Oh the lies:

1) Over with in a jiffy.
2) Greeted with songs of praise and flowers.
3) Will cost us nothing, in fact, Iraq's oil reserves will pay for the entire kit-and-kaboddle.
4) The middle east will be a much safer place.
5) The good Ol' U-S-of-A will be a much safer place.

Seriously, folks, if you had to put a plan together on how to totally fuck up the entire situation, it would look astonishingly like what's taking place now.

Repugs are worried and rattled? DAMN RIGHT!

14. Repugs deserve to be nervous
Too bad we can't ship them to Iraq so they'd be really staining their pants.

At least Pawlenty is attending soldiers funerals. Did you guys read the story earlier this week that Gov Gropinator hasn't attended any funerals?

15. End game?
This ain't no game, no one gets to re-spawn and ya can't put another quarter in for extra life. I REALLY wish these asshole politicians (who seem to start all the wars) would stop using jargon to make 'state sanctioned murder' sound like a video game!

Notice how the only thing politicians care about is their poll numbers - human life doesn't mean shit to some of these people.

be scared and concerned in light of the complete mess they've made of everything. I hope they can't sleep at all nights, but I guess that would require a soul.
