Leaked Emails Show Tip To Breitbart About Weiner Tweet
Benjy Sarlin | June 2, 2011, 3:37PM

The ongoing scandal surrounding a lewd tweet sent from Rep. Anthony Weiner's (D-NY) Twitter account took yet another turn for the weird Thursday as alleged e-mails between the person who first noticed the photo and conservative media guru Andrew Breitbart were leaked.

Breitbart first reported the Weiner story Saturday on his site Big Government using a screengrab from the person in question, Twitter user "@patriotusa76," who lists his name on his account as Dan Wolfe and said he captured the image from Weiner's feed before it was deleted. Weiner has said his account was hacked and a number of liberal blogs have pointed to Wolfe -- who had a history of crudely taunting Weiner online -- as a person of interest.

..............

The Smoking Gun published emails today from Dan Wolfe, AKA "patriotusa76," at least one of which listed Breitbart as a recipient. In the first email, Wolfe tips off Breitbart to the screengrab as well as key details of the story and promises at the end that "we have more."

3. Shades of freeper Buckhead four hours after the Dan Rather TANG story.
To: Howlin
Howlin, every single one of these memos to file is in a proportionally spaced font, probably Palatino or Times New Roman.

In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing, and typewriters used monospaced fonts.

The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90's. Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn't used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang systems that were dominant in the mid 80's used monospaced fonts.

I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old.

This should be pursued aggressively.

15. FWIW The IBM Executive typewriter launched in 1944 had proportional spacing.

5. #1: that pic is not "x-rated."
This story is stupid on so many levels. It seems very obvious to me that Representative Weiner is the victim of a smear that is an attempt to intimidate him or even get him to resign.

But even if the story were 100% true, so what? We are fighting two wars, we incarcerate more people than any other country on earth, we are running a war on drugs and a war on immigrants that puts us on the same level as thugs, we have a Supreme Court justice who has so many conflicts of interest we don't know where to start with him - and the lead story night after night is that some representative says that he didn't tweet a picture of his underwear to a 21 year old?

wtf is wrong with this country.

posted about an upcoming scandal involving photos and calling out Weiner is very interesting. And now their complete unwillingness to come forward in defense of Syphilis Man -- more interesting stuff.

"We have more."

Could this be an O'Keefeesque "sting", perhaps even the same crew but who are now operating as "unnamed" because O'Keefe has been dragged into court a few too many times now?

9. more info
With that as background, The Smoking Gun published emails today from Dan Wolfe, AKA "patriotusa76," at least one of which listed Breitbart as a recipient. In the first email, Wolfe tips off Breitbart to the screengrab as well as key details of the story and promises at the end that "we have more."

In the second email, Wolfe appears agitated and warns that he will be in big trouble if unspecified details about his role in the incident leak:

I have ALOT of personal problems I didn't want to go into--but as I become the focus of this I am more and more afraid this will all come out. I want to tell you why I haven't talked on the phone yet.

I have an en exwife suing me for custody of our 2 kids and for lots of other stuff right now. Her attorneys are after everything I own.

I have an ex girlfriend who has mental problems causing issues for me at work .

My business is suffering as a result.

If my exwife's attorney's got a hold of a call recorded with me on it they'd have a field day with that. I want to try to avoid.

She had recorded me twice before. She worked with my exgirlfriend and had two calls recorded.

It has gotten me in a lot of legal trouble.

I am screwed. If this comes out along with everything I'm dealing with here -- I don't know what to do.

14. I don't believe that tale of woe. I think that "Dan Wolfe" doesn't exist.
This is more of Breitbart's smears, part of the Karl Rove smear-machine.

I actually think that Weiner is handling this fairly well. By making a joke out of it he's letting the infotainment industry have their field day and when the week is over there will be nothing left to say or even speculate about.

I wish that somebody could shut down Breitbart but that doesn't look likely.

11. SOMETHING is rotten...
I just wish/hope that someone, ANYONE, will file suit against BrightFart and his ilk.

Of course, I'm semi-resolved that we, the Dems, will simply role over dead and let The Fart / FakePimpGuy just keep on doing what they do.

...me also...never Tweeted, never FBed...don't need them and don't plan to do them ever.

16. Looks like a report to an employer...
...i.e. it is quite possible that Breitbart paid him to do some dirty work, and this was his report. Probably required in order to get paid. Enough specifics for Breitbart to verify that the dirty deed was done, but of course no mention of pay or anything like that.

"We have more" == have done / will do more work, will expect more pay for it.

IMO.
