Danes charged over Iraq war leaks
Two Danish newspaper journalists and a former intelligence officer have been charged with breaking secrecy laws over leaks about hidden weapons in Iraq.

Major Frank Soeholm Grevil told the reporters he had repeatedly informed Denmark's prime minister that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction. Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen made several statements to the opposite effect during the run-up to the war. Denmark sent a submarine and a warship to participate in the campaign.

Major Grevil is charged with breaching the official information act and the two journalists, Jesper Larsen and Michael Bjerre, are charged with exploiting information emerging from a crime.

The major told the reporters at the Berlingske Tidende newspaper he had sent 10 reports to the prime minister which concluded that the coalition was unlikely to find weapons of mass destruction.

7. They also sent snow shovels and a lawnmower.
Jul 10, 10:56 am ET

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Danish security forces in Iraq, struggling with temperatures around 120 degrees, are prepared for the worst -- even a blizzard.

The almost 400 soldiers from the chilly Nordic are equipped with snow shovels, brooms and a lawnmower as they work to restore law and order in the war-torn country.

3. tell the truth, go to jail
It's kind of funny, because the Danish government is admitting that the intelligence that Iraq had no WMDs is an official secret, so they're admitting they lied to the Danish people and believe covering up the lie serves their national security interests.

10. Sounds like the misinformation campaign was widespread.
So there apparently WAS a coordinated effort to deceive not only Americans but the world. People in positions of power ignored their own intelligence reports in favor of the big lie.
