Miami police filmed shooting man in middle of street

CNN has obtained a shocking video of Miami police officers shooting a man to death as he sat in his vehicle in the middle of a roadway. The man had been running from officers but came to a stop — and that’s when they surrounded his car and opened fire.

The incident was caught on tape from several angels, but two bystanders captured the police’s actions up close and on the ground, causing at least one officer to point a gun at them as he demanded the mobile phone used to shoot the video.

It was just a few day ago when a Young vet was killed by Police as they entered his home.. Shot over 60 times..
Police training and Supervisors are to blame for this crap...

several years ago if you witnessed a crime, especially a serious crime, you called the Fire Department and took off before any cops showed up.

I guess everything is modernized these days.

Also, according to the headline it was the cops who videotaped the shooting.

excessive police brutality was the trigger that started riots across the country during the sixties.

When will they learn?

Back in the '60s, it was only acceptable for cops to beat the crap out of "colored people". Now, unless you are in the top 1%, employing your own private security guards, the cops have learned that you are fair game as well.

I hope they have also learned to accept the eventual consequences. It's only a matter of time.

I remember, we had just been down Grand Ave in Coconut Grove to score a nickel bag of some stemmy, seedy pot when the whole thing broke out, right there. We were loading up our big bong in front of the Biltmore Hotel when a cop came up behind us. We were in a car that was possibly stolen and it looked literally like Up In Smoke with all the windows closed. Our driver said he'd take care of it and opened the driver side door, fell out on to the grass and crawled back to the cop car. Now, we all knew were totally busted. But, the cop knew the kid and told him to get back in the car and drive as far away from Coconut Grove as we could. Naturally, he was so messed up, he headed toward US1, where by then the barricades into the Grove were up and police were in total riot gear with machine guns. First time I'd ever seen that. We headed south back towards the UM, where I lived. On any other night we would have been arrested and probably all sent to meet Old Sparky in Stark.

It would be interesting to see the police report from the officer who drew his gun on the bystander. In most places, drawing the gun usually implies having to justify the use of lethal force, happens only under the same sets of circumstances as actually having to fire the gun, and creates some paperwork in and of itself. The last time I checked, refusing to hand over a mobile phone wasn't an offense justifying lethal force.



I'd also be curious to know why there were "angels" taping the incident... ;)

can't quite remember if it was on DU, but i probably got the link from DU. anyway. he pulled out the memory card and held it in his mouth. even while the cops were questioning him.

from what I can see in the video. Likely he put rounds into the car of the suspect that was killed.

Not entirely clear though. The street level video is not terribly clear.

The sad thing is, however, that most police chases end that way. It's getting to be a habit with some police officers.
