Anthony Weiner faces ethics probe as more accusers emerge
Source: Yahoo

Weiner's biggest problem could be the continuing drip of revelations as some of the women he allegedly communicated have come forward to tell their side of the story. So far, three women have claimed online relationships with Weiner, hinting they have more pictures and hundreds of lurid texts that could prove to be even more politically embarrassing to the congressman:

It isn't going to go away quite yet. . . WHY did he have to be so stupid?

1. I wish there would have been a precedent of some kind that would have informed Mr Weiner's conduct.....
Oh wait there were FUCKING HUNDREDS!!!! What a dumb bastard. It pisses me off even more that I truly respected him a sa politician.

2. I don't know why some DU'ers are so easily deluded
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 02:55 PM by Cronus Protagonist
Where there's smoke there's fire. Weiner was just trying to cut his losses the other day. He even said as much, accidentally, during the question time, hoping that more bad things won't come out if he fesses up to the minor mistake of posting his erection to his Twitter account.

He was getting far too cavalier about his swashbuckling affairs, and he tripped himself up. I have no sympathy for him, only for his stupidity, which can't be helped. Stupid is as stupid does.

7. Yes. Being a rightwing patsy is its own reward.
Let's see. He admitted being a dick idiot with six women HE NEVER MET. Three are looking for a payoff. Whoopee. They talked dirty online with an aging congressman who is nonetheless very nice to look at with a zucchini in his pants.

I am fascinated by anyone who saves hundreds of dirty texts, aren't you? Do you save and treasure your dirty texts?

I'm sure you were part of the thundering herd going after Bill Clinton. And if you'd known about JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr.? I'm sure you would have tried to destroy them, too.

Good on you for your moral stand. It's in quicksand. Don't get up.

15. I'm with you.
One sext message or a hundred? Who cares, other than possibly his wife.

I have to wonder if any of these outstandingly moral people ever watched a porno film, made inappropriate advances to another, touched someone who didn't want to be touched, leered at a stranger they found attractive, responded to the flirtations of someone other than their spouse...

What can be delivered (face to face) in one lusty look can require some pretty graphic words to deliver by text. And unfortunately, the majority of adults in this world are not tech savvy enough to understand how easily their privacy can be compromised. Heck, the majority of adults over 30 can't even use a computer, let alone figure out how to participate in social media.

Besides, this should be between Rep Weiner and his wife.

"I am fascinated by anyone who saves hundreds of dirty texts, aren't you? Do you save and treasure your dirty texts?"

You never know. They might come in handy on a lonely night. (Kidding. Lol.)

and yeah, I'm one of the ones who still supports him. He's been an incredible voice for the Democratic party. This shit....this shit, is personal stuff. It's sex. It's honestly none of my business, and I felt the same about Clinton too. Still supported him as well. The number one thing people are always going to lie about, is sex.

I still <3 Weiner. He needs to pull his personal shit together and get back to work.

However, HE LIED! So what could have just been utter stupidity is now much worse. I respected the man very much as did many others & he shattered that respect because he lied not because he was sexting & sending pics of his man-pole!

32. While I don't give a rat's ass about his sex life
I do care that he is this stupid to think that in this day and age (Twitter, Google cache, email, Facebook, etc) that he is going to be able to keep this behaviour secret.

There are only two answers to questions of this type:

1) The truth.

2) My sex life is none of your business.

Any other answer is simply arrogant and stupid, and the last thing Washington needs is people with either of these qualities, never mind both.

*IF* he sent any of these pix unsolicited, that is sexual harassment, case closed. Of course, even if he didn't, he placed himself in a position where it will be his word (the word of a man who obfuscated and dissembled for a week) against theirs.

Again, what was he thinking?

If he wanted this to be a non-event, the episode should have played out like this:

Reporter: A web site claims it has a naked/semi-naked picture of you that you sent to a follower of your Twitter account, is this true.

Acceptable answer #1: I do not discuss my sex life, nor pry into anyone else's. Next question.

Acceptable answer #2: Why, yes I did. It's called sexting and is really all the rage these days. Do try and keep up with modern social trends. Next question..

---so now sexting when you're not committed is bad behavior?

When you're married, it IS, but I don't think he's been married that long. So how many of these "others" were "others" after his marriage?

22. I just assumed most political marriages were fake or based on career moves.
Political marriages to me always seem to me more like old school royalty weddings, where a prince from one country marries someone of power from another. They very rarely seem like they are based on things like: kids, or love, etc.

11. those links at the article were pretty significant finds

suggesting statements to those he chatted with to feed the press - I don't care if it is a Democrat or Republican or an Independent - it's bad form and who knows what else is coming.

On June 2, Weiner sent Lee a proposed statement she could give to the press: "I have nothing to do with the situation involving Rep Weiner. I follow his twitter feed. And for a brief time he followed me. Much has been made of the fact that I have posted about my admiration for Rep Weiner and his politics. All I can say about that is that I'm a fan of his. Rep. Weiner sent me one short direct message thanking me for following him. I have never met Rep. Weiner and he has never sent me anything innappopriate (sic) ..."

Weiner then asked Lee directly, "How's it feel?"

not looking good

if only 'stupid' could describe his actions any longer, because those actions describe someone quite cunning

17. "accusers" - accused of what?
The language baffles me - is anyone saying he coerced them? Stalked them? Anything that is illegal?

I don't give a single hoot how many women he engaged in various activities with - what business is it of mine? I'm not his wife.

I am not "excusing" his behavior - again, who am I to "excuse" it - he owes me nothing in the interpersonal realm. I genuinely don't care about it as long as it was adult and consensual. If he broke the law, that's one thing, but nothing I've read so far says that? Why are we wasting news on this if there was no illegality or criminality?

(and I also admit to not reading anything except snippets posted here, and not many of those)

I really can't see what all the hoopla is about other than prurience. Is anyone surprised anymore by anything people do in their leisure hours? They should grow up. Meanwhile, the whole thing is pretty hilarious, except for him and his wife. But then, gazillions of humans have predilections that in the hard light of day are pretty funny if one doesn't happen to share them.

27. Were the women answering the smutty e-mails?
Was he sending the texts or e-mails to women who answered him?

If so, clearly this was going two ways, so what can be so shocking about it?
If not, the question is whether the women were being harassed, and, if so, why they are only coming forward now?

There may be a good answer, but this question should be asked of the women?

33. Who the hell has time for this stuff?
That's what always amazes me.

Even if someone were to approach me on Facebook or Twitter (impossible, since I don't have active accounts there), I can't even imagine spending any time responding to someone I don't know. It's all I can do to answer my e-mail every three days.

Most people are a waste of time anyway, so I'm pretty certain I would not take the time to hit reply or whatever it is one does when approached through these mediums.

That's my two cents worth. It appears others have a more generous view of their fellow human beings than I do. They'll find out. Eventually.

Cher

in Iraq. No prob. I remember when the Pentagon said they don't bother to count "enemy" casualties. Jaw-dropping callousness. Mind-boggling crime. Not possible after Vietnam, eh? Not possible in this era? It's so horrible we can't take it in. And we are helped along in forgetting. We drown in the newscorp "river of forgetfulness." Red blood river, carrying babies' intestines and grandmothers' arms and many blown up human parts out to sea.

That's all I have to say about this.
