Bachmann Calls For Huge Corporate Tax Cut Alongside Tax Increase For The Working Poor
Source: Think Progress.

"falo on Jun 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm
Several of the 2012 GOP presidential hopefuls have laid out economic platforms that would include huge cuts in the corporate tax rate. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) called for lowering the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent, while former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) went a step further, calling for a cut to 15 percent.
In an interview published today by the Wall Street Journal, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) — who is toying with a presidential run herself — decided to one-up both Romney and Pawlenty, calling for a reduction in the corporate tax rate to 9 percent. Adding insult to injury, Bachmann wants to pair that huge tax cut with giant tax reductions for the rich, as well as a tax increase on the working poor:"

1. It's the quadrennial Republican tax cut bidding war
They have done this in 1996, in 2000 and now:

"My tax cut is bigger than yours!"

"Is not! MY tax cut is bigger than yours! YOU are a stealth tax raiser!"

13. But it is only a small minority that she is talking about so what does that say...
It says that since she is making promises to the small number of wealthy, there are not enough votes there to vote for her. That means that she "assumes" she will win another way. Cheating. Buying her cheating.

Unregulated capitalism is merely organized crime --

4. Oh boy...
"Half of all Americans don't pay tax" is the rallying cry for the Republicans in 2012. The real question is, what did they expect to happen? The Republicans have made it so half the country only cares about which candidate is going to give them the biggest tax cut. Well, kids, if you cut federal income taxes incessantly for thirty years, eventually half the country will have no federal income tax liability. Which, as you fuckers keep reminding us, is the situation we're in now.

The parallel problem is, thanks to the modern Republican way of making money in business (don't worry about creating a new and useful product or service, buy someone else's company and fire half the people who work there so you can pay the loans down) no one who's currently paying no federal income tax can afford to pay federal income tax at all, because their job is in China being performed by someone who's working for food. And the people who CAN afford to pay more tax, can also afford lobbyists to keep them from having to.

8. Does US business even need non-wealthy Americans? Do politicians?
http://www.correntewire.com/does_us_business_even_need_non_uberwealthy_americans_any_longer_do_pols#more - via Corrente

.... Within the United States, Madison Avenue is discovering that the age of the American mass consumer may be drawing to an end. Instead, a new white paper by Ad Age , the industry’s trade journal, argues that growing income inequality means the only buyers who count are those at the top.

“Simply put, as the discrepancy between the rich and poor has become more and more stark, a small plutocracy of wealthy elites drives a larger and larger share of total consumer spending,” the paper concludes, citing research that shows the top 10 percent of U.S. households account for nearly 50 percent of all consumer spending. “It appears that mass affluence may be a thing of the past — and that luxury marketers should reconsider how their products appeal to elite consumers.”

It is hard to overemphasize the importance of this business shift from the U.S. middle class to the rich at home and the hundreds of millions graduating into the middle class in the emerging markets.

11. I've noticed this same thing
I don't have a television at home, but I do hear the televisions at clients' homes during the day. They're usually tuned into one of the cable opinion shows that people mistakenly refer to as "news" shows. What strikes me is how many of the ads are for luxury items, like very high-end cars (Bentley, Rolls Royce, etc.,) and other trappings of the idle rich.

26. Keep in mind that ....
after Wm. Buckley died evidently a few CIA memos came floating out which

showed that the CIA had been supporting the political campaigns of right wingers

in Congress -- notably Sen. Strom Thurmond and also Rep. Gerald Ford.

Evidently there were others in Congress they supported but that's all I'm aware of

at this time.

The CIA has taken money from any of the right wingers -- including the KKK and Nazis.

Also Sen. Jesse Helms got money from them -- as well as Pat Buchanan.

That just takes us a another step further into Kabuki and the Hollywood Sound Stage

which we need to break thru.

Like ... eh .. . remember that scene at the end of "Blazing Saddles"?

"Throw out your hands --

Stick out your tush --

Hands on your hips --

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMK6lzmSk2o

and here's the sequence of events ...

The resulting fight between the townsfolk and Lamarr's army of thugs breaks the fourth wall; the fight spills out from the Warner Bros. film lot into a neighboring musical set (being directed by Dom DeLuise), then into the studio commissary, where a pie fight ensues, and finally pouring out into the surrounding streets.

Ending at Grauman's Chinese theater --

:)

"redistribution" of wealth from the rich --

The only way the rich accumulate wealth is by attaching themselves to the

teats of government -- usurping its wealth and natural resources --

gaining license to pollute and exploiting nature and labor.

The truth is that the planet is a commonwealth -- whatever it is it belongs

to all of us -- not the few.

The founding of the nation immediately gave elites great wealth based on land

grants -- which RE-distributed the wealth from the many to the few.

23. I'm glad they're no longer hiding their intentions
Granted, having the SCOTUS in their pocket is likely a big part of their current brazenness but I'm happy that they are laying all their cards out on the table. It used to be that they pretended that these type of policies were good for everyone and they wanted to encourage the poor and middle class to achieve the American dream. Now, they don't even bother. In their world, the strength of the nation is dependent upon protecting the wealthy. Period. It's permanent ghettos for everyone else.

Let them blather on about Tax Cuts for their
Wealthy Sugardaddies. The Majority of the US
People see thru this farce, and will send these
sellouts packing come November 2012.

I survived 3 minutes of their 'debate' which
amounted more to a groveling match to see just
who could grovel the lowest. Incredible that
any of them could even be considered for the
Whitehouse. Social experiments should be kept
in a Lab, and not imposed on the people by
reactionary born again radicals. These Creatures
screamed and ranted about 'jobs' in the 2010
Election, and after they won the House, promptly
changed the subject to Spending Cuts. They have
created NO jobs, and that's the fact. If the
American People hand the Congress and Whitehouse
to them in 2012, you deserve the gutter you will
get as a result. Its 8 Years of Republican rule
what has destroyed the Economy. We are simply
living in the ruin the republicans created.
