State Democrats say plan will thwart GOP manipulation
Source: LaCrosseTribune.com

MADISON - State Democrats say they have a plan to prevent Republicans from gaming the political system by manipulating the dates of upcoming recall elections.

Six Republican senators will face recall elections, but the dates are in flux. If only one Democrat runs for each seat, the general election will be in July. If more than one Democrat runs, they'll have to face off in a primary first, pushing the general election back a month.

The state Republican Party wants Republicans to run as Democrats in those elections in order to force primary elections. That would give the GOP candidates more time to prepare.

But Democrats worry that Republicans might run candidates in some elections but not others, introducing voter confusion. Democrats said Saturday they'll run "placeholder" Democratic candidates in all six races to force six primaries and make sure general elections are held on the same day in every case.

3. As I understand it.
This will force general elections on the same day, we should be good with no extra month of waiting.

4. As I read it, the point is to keep the elections in synch so there won't be primaries
and recall elections on the same day which would confuse voters since some would likely think that the first election day would be all primaries.

The problem with multiple elections is that getting people out to vote is like pulling teeth. Unless it's a presidential election we have trouble getting half the eligible people to go and vote. It's just too much of a chore for them. You have to wheedle and beg people to vote just like getting a little kid to eat their veggies. Pathetic.

5. WI dentist will use gas to help pull the GOP out
WI voters will be giddy to get to the polls to oust the GOP Senators and flip the Senate.

Great idea to synch up all elections.

7. eeth. Unless it's a presidential election we have trouble getting half the eligible people to (vote)
And that, my friends, is the big reason why the U.S. has so many problems. Only republicans and attentive dems vote.

8. As my sig reads: "Governments are formed, law and policies are made as a result of those who choose
to participate in the process, not those who choose to stay at home."

9. And, in addition, we are dealing with a GOP leadership that is made up
of out and out criminals. How does one deal with Al Capones?

6. Someone Should Point Out
That Wisconsin has budget issues and forcing primary elections with phoney candidates simply makes the budget problem worse.
