Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

Iran launched a satellite into earth orbit Wednesday, Iran's state TV reported, in a feat that is likely to raise concerns among those who fear Iran's intentions and nuclear development program.

The report said the locally produced satellite, called Rasad, or observation, was launched successfully by a Safir missile on Wednesday. There was no independent confirmation of the launch or of the satellite achieving orbit.

1. Homemade? As opposed to industrial grade or consumer grade?
Aren't all satellites homemade? Or is there a satellite manufacturing company?

2. Homemade in this case meaning domestically produced.
Many more nations than you'd think have launched satellites, but those are generally made elsewhere and just launched in country. This satellite is an entirely iranian creation.

3. Thanks. Homemade sounds artsy-crafty. Like their satellite is made from paper plates and macaroni.

5. The NERVE. Don't they know that all of space belongs to the US?
At least that seems to be the attitude among many that I hear.
