Rebels say Gaddafi could stay in Libya: report
Source: Le Figaro Via International Business Times.

June 25, 2011 1:35 AM HKT (Hong Kong Time)

Libyan rebels rule out any role for Muammar Gaddafi in a future government but could let him remain "in a remote part of Libya" as part of a settlement, France's Le Figaro reported on Friday.

The newspaper quoted Mahmoud Shammam, spokesman for the rebel National Transitional Council (NTC), as confirming indirect talks were going on with Gaddafi's side.

"Yes, these contacts are under way through intermediaries. But the talks are never direct. They happen at times in South Africa, sometimes in Paris, where Gaddafi has recently sent a representative to talk to us," Shammam said.

"We consider that he has to resign himself to leaving or accept retirement in a remote part of Libya. We have no objection to him retreating to a Libyan oasis under international control," he added.

Gaddafi 'may leave' bombed capital

AFP

Muammar Gaddafi is reportedly mulling leaving Tripoli after blistering NATO air raids, as the rebels hinted they may let him stay in Libya if he quits and US lawmakers rebuked US President Barack Obama.

The Wall Street Journal quoted a senior US national security official as saying American intelligence shows Gaddafi "doesn't feel safe anymore" in the capital where he has ruled for more than four decades.

However, officials told the paper they did not see the move as imminent and did not believe Gaddafi would leave Libya, a key demand of rebels battling his forces.

Kadhafi is believed to have numerous safe houses and other facilities both within and outside Tripoli where he could go.

2. If Qaddafi stays in Libya, he will be back in power within 6 months.
That should be enough time for most Libyans to realize what a mistake handing over power
to a bunch of incompetent traitorous thugs was. Libyans are not Egyptians, they actually
know what a good prosperous middle-class life is like, and they wouldn't stand for poverty and
humiliation the Benghazi gang will bring them for too long.

3. I hope instead they just blow his fucking brains out
and then get started on doing the same to his disgusting family. One of his sons down, quite a bit more to go.
