President Obama sets $60 million fundraising goal
Source: USA Today

President Obama has set a goal of collecting $60 million for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee for the fundraising quarter that ends in six days, a campaign source said today.

The fundraising target comes as Obama's campaign sends out a slew of fundraising pitches to supporters, offering everything from a private dinner with the president to campaign merchandise. Obama has appeared at more than two dozen fundraisers in the past three months, including three Thursday night in New York City to collect money for his re-election and the national party.

The president's campaign aides have consistently sought to lower fundraising expectations, saying he is balancing governing with his re-election efforts. Even so, a goal of $60 million shared with the party appears modest for the president, who raised a whopping $58.6 million during the first six months of his campaign in 2007 and went on to shatter fundraising records.

The president and his Republican rivals have gotten off to a slower start this time around. This year, Obama kicked off his campaign April 4, compared with Feb. 10, 2007, in the last election.

1. Hope his friends on Wall Street
and his "bi=partisan" buddies in the GOP are going to help him out.

Thanks to economy and his constant expansion of Bush policies, there is no money (or votes) to be had from me.

8. .
I've always been pretty upfront about the fact that gay rights issues are never typically high up on my list, but the more time goes on, I learn that it doesn't matter if gay rights are my thing or not: It's about equality, period.

9. Rights in general are pretty high on my list
If one person/group is denied human and civil rights, we are all affected -- and in jeopardy
