APNewsBreak: Kansas abortion clinic denied license
Source: Kansas City Star

An attorney for a Kansas City, Kan., abortion clinic says it has been denied a state license that would allow it to continue performing abortions.

Attorney Cheryl Pilate (PEYE'-leht) says the Aid for Women clinic received a notice Friday from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The lack of a license means the clinic won't be able to perform abortions, starting in July.

The Aid to Women clinic is one of three abortion providers in Kansas.

Pilate says the notice came without an inspection of the clinic and was based on disclosures it made in its application for a license.

This is not the Planned Parenthood Clinic, but another one.

1. Underground black market unsanitary operations are sure to take up
the slack and we'll be back to illegal abortions and deaths that used to prevail. We constantly go one step backward.

3. I feel we are backsliding sooooo much in so many areas, all the battles
fought and won over decades. There is such a gap in generational knowledge. A real breakdown in communications from one generation to the next. I'm not sure why it happened, maybe later generations just took it all for granted.

8. I feel like we're riding along in a train going over the cliff, all the doors and
windows have been welded shut and we're doing everything to break them open. I've been in too many major corporations going over the cliff and this feels the same. We the employees got screwed and the captains of industry took their cash in millions and rode off into the sunset.

25. But but the rich can afford to send theirs to
ummmmmmm to other countries in secret and no body will never know and at the same time they still can spew their hatred for abortions, and deny others, but at the same time defunding programs.

4. This particular clinic in Kansas
is just a few blocks from Missouri. They could move the clinic and still help the same women.

11. There are no abortion providers in Kansas City, MO
There are three on the KS side of the metro area. Two in the northern suburbs on the MO side.

Planned Parenthood used to have a clinic in KC, MO but it was literally harassed till it closed. I would imagine there are good reasons none have opened to take its place. Maybe a city ordinance?

15. PP in KCMO was not a very good facility for what was
going on. The clinic in Overland Park (used to be comprehensive health for women I think) is much more equipped for all the services they provide.

18. It was too small. It was also unable to provide adequate security.
The protesters would be in the middle of 47th St (now cleaver Blvd) and on more than one occasion, were nearly hit by cars.

I used to volunteer there. They were basically forced out of the abortion business. The terrorists won this battle as well.

17. When NY legalized abortion 3 years before Roe,
NJ women got in cars, buses, PATH trains and went into NY. I remember this. The state of NJ was FURIOUS over this, but nothing they could do about it.

23. I remember that. One of my friends found out she was pregnant shortly after
NY legalized it. She took a bus from Ohio to NY for an abortion. Twice, actually, before she was 18 years old. Her parents never found out.

10. This clinic has been harassed by anti-choice zealots for YEARS
Nasty nasty older men who have HUGE (Fred Phelps sized) signs with horrible pictures on them. They stand a few feet from the entrance and scream at every one who goes in the clinic. They scream just horrible things - calling women whores and baby killers and so many other bad names.

Just full of hate. We have tried for years to counter protest there but it takes so much to stand there every week and listen to these horrible hateful men, our group never grows.

This is the clinic that Scott Roeder vandalized the day before he murdered Dr. Tiller. He was caught putting super glue in the lock. The manager caught him, recognized him - because he had been harassing this clinic for at least 10 years - and called the police. The police told him to call the FBI. So he did and the FBI said they needed a court order to go arrest Roeder.

He had violated a federal law and the FBI refused to even go talk to him.

So he got away, got in his car and drove to Wichita. You know the rest of the story . . . .

What you may not know is that Roeder had NO money, no job and was sleeping on a friend's couch. Basically homeless. When he was arrested he claimed assets of $1.50. Yet he somehow bought a gun, bought the ammunition, filled up his car with enough gas to drive 200 miles to WIchita and stay in a motel the night before he murdered Dr. Tiller.

For a month before this, Dr. Tiller was on trial on trumped up charges (he was acquitted) and Roeder managed to get to Wichita and sit through every day of that trial. Yet he was broke.

Roeder also has plenty of cash deposited regularly in his account in prison so he can buy things to make himself comfortable. And Dr. Tiller is still dead.

There are no abortion providers in Wichita anymore. There are only three in Kansas. This one can't pass inspection and another one may not either. Planned Parenthood probably will be allowed to stay open. That leaves ONE abortion provider in the entire state.

Connect the dots, folks. The dots the FBI refused to connect . . . . .

The terrorists have won.

It would give them a taste of their own medicine.

19. I'm convinced that the results of knitting needles and coat hangers
is the reason that the Supremes legalized abortion in the first place!

People tired of attending funerals of daughters, sisters, nieces and cousins that died from " female problems.

passed in NY today.

Why does it always have to be one step forward, one step back?
