San Francisco Chronicle(06-26) 14:24 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a Saturday shooting that injured five people near the corner of Seventh and Market streets, near the center of the San Francisco Pride celebration, police said today.
A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, both city residents, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon as well as charges related to gun possession and gang affiliation, said Lt. Troy Dangerfield. He did not identify the two individuals.
Witnesses told police that two groups were seen fighting before shots were fired around 6:15 p.m., wounding four innocent bystanders from England, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and El Cerrito, Dangerfield said. He said the fifth victim was part of the groups involved in the altercation.
"It is known there was some rival gang activity and he was part of those groups," Dangerfield said.
