Iraqi Gunmen Kill Coalition Soldier
Iraqi Gunmen Kill Coalition Soldier

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi gunmen opened fire on a coalition military patrol outside of the encircled southern city of Najaf, killing one soldier, a top U.S. officer said Saturday.

It was not immediately clear if the casualty was an American.

Two gunmen also were killed in the incident, Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt said at a Baghdad briefing.

Some 2,500 U.S. soldiers have encircled Najaf and are demanding that an anti-American militia inside disband and its leader, a radical cleric, surrender to coalition forces.

Spanish and Salvadorian troops also are based in the area.

3. So, soldier relatives: do not fret. Your soldier is dead but two of the
Iraqi untermenschen are dead. We are winning. Our success resontates in our ears, our hearts, and our minds.

5. Kimmitt's only the spokesman ...
But he's obviously got some loose screws. The nuts rise to the top when the military industries control the Nation and the pentagon. The ones who pay the price for putting loons in charge are the real fighting men. I hope Kimmitt never gets a division command. It will be a difficult task to restore competent leadership to the military after the cabal is ousted. But the yes-men like Kimmitt must be fired and officers with moral courage put back in charge.
