I don't want any instances that could possibly generate sympathy for the ol' bastid. I want this hearing - and all subsequent events, including trials - to go off without a hitch. I will be highly pissed if Murdick gets rewarded for playing the doddering old fool who deserves our mercy.

43. speaking of infantile, perhaps you've read what the bible sez:
".... out of the mouths of the babes & the sucklings, come forth words of wisdom ...."; or something like that.

It's kind of similar to the Native American Plains Indians counting coup & giving the finger to their enemies.

Cheers! to Johnny Marbles, latest member of the Shoe-Thrower Hall of Fame.

23. Comedian held after Murdoch ('custard pie') attack
Source: Chortle

Occasional comedian Johnnie Marbles has been arrested after a custard pie attack on Rupert Murdoch during a Commons select committee.

The 80-year-old media mogul was hit with a plate full of shaving foam while giving evidence to the media and culture committee.

Murdoch was protected by his wife Wendi and a female lawyer who leapt to his defence to protect her husband.

Marbles – whose real name is Jonathan May-Bowles – tweeted before the attack: ‘It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before #splat.’

36. I think its brilliant
It is, for one, the only public justice, pitiful though it is, we will ever see against such a powerful gangster like that. But it is a kind of public shaming act that we won't see otherwise. I just wish we had a full frontal!

It would have been awesome as a real banana cream pie, but I am guessing that it is easier to smuggle in the pieces to quickly put together a shaving foam pie than sneak in a fully made bcp.

The reason why this, and other previous bcp acts, is brilliant is that it works so well on those that feel they are better than everyone else, that they can get away scott free and don't have to account to anyone. When it happens they are usually outraged because some pleb made fun of him in public. And yet on the surface it is harmless, even humourous as it has its roots in comedy, so it leaves the victim with not much recourse. If he insists on prosecution he looks even more like the asshole who deserved it.

if they had reached H2S stage, the old egghead, murdoch, would've felt right at home amidst the aroma.

on a side note, whats with these passe' autocrats having to be protected by female oriental bodyguards? i mean - wendy deng is his wife and all; but, shades of kim il jung, it's like all these petty tyrants have been watching the old Bond movies of Connery vintage, or Austin Powers, for pointers on how to play their roles on the world stage. how cliched can all this get? and what's next on the cards - white furred Persian cats & swimming pools with piranha?

It was Robert Maxwell. At one time he was an owner of the Daily Mirror and also a member of parliament. He died in 1991 after falling off a yacht. He was definitely a larger than life character.

61. Did him a favour
The "attack" allowed Murdoch to break for 15 minutes and regain his composure. He was getting increasingly frustrated and annoyed by the questioning and it was really starting to show, he kept banging the table when answering questions (that is, when he was answering, he was often left searching for an answer).

Until he got "attacked" he looked like he was going to lose his temper or might just start shouting at MPs in Parliament.

After the "attack" he was far more composed and, since he's an 80 year-old man who has just been hit in the face with a shaving foam pie, actually gained some sympathy plus he's deflected a lot of attention away from him and on to the police (who were also giving evidence today whilst not checking people for cans of shaving foam).

64. Turning Murdoch senior into a Custard Pie King Lear
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 05:16 PM by fedsron2us
was all a touch too convenient for the Dirty Digger.

Despite these antics the hearings did reveal the remarkable fact that NI were still paying one of their Private Investigators legal fees even after he was convicted and sent to prison for phone tapping. Strangely neither Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch or Rebekah Brooks claimed to have any idea who was signing off these payments. Such absence of financial control is most unlike the Murdochs so these statements have raised a few eyebrows amongst the rest of the UK media.

Equally significant James Murdoch did not rule out the possibility that the phones of 9/11 victims and their relatives had been hacked by people paid by NI. If that does not trigger a full investigation by the FBI nothing will.
