Michigan senior citizens struggling economically, report says

Groceries, health care, the cost of utilities and gas for the car -- perhaps no one is more vulnerable to the rising costs of living than Michigan's senior citizens.

A new study concludes that one-third of Michigan's senior citizens are considered "economically insecure," far more than suggested by the federal poverty line.

Even in some of the wealthiest counties, where suburbs buoy the county's overall median income, at least 1 in 4 senior citizens struggles to make ends meet, according to the paper, "Invisible Poverty: New Measure Unveils Financial Hardship in Michigan's Older Population."

"There's the popular perception that they have this nice car and their house is paid off and they travel the country. And that's true for some," said Thomas Jankowski, one of the study's authors and associate research director at Wayne State University's Institute of Gerontology. "But others, many, many others, just skate on the edge of economic security."

along with anyone in favor of their piece of crap legislation will be guilty of further pushing them and other Seniors across this nation further over the poverty cliff.

my region is completely run by Hate Radio and Fox Lies. the prez could have drawn a nice contrast between Repukes and Dems by forcefully, vocally taking ANY cuts to SS, Medicare off the table.

6. gopers don't care about anyone
but themselves and their corporate masters. Gopers do not want any social programs, period, zip. So therefore, the senior will again vote againt their own interest. Cuts you say, how about no social programs, and of course, the gopers always have said its the Christian churches that should provide for the elderly and the poor not the government.

This hate and fear that gopers instill in less than 1/3 of the Americans to me is against Christian teachings bugt again, they hold the bible and the American flag.

9. add the disabled to this mixture
This is really hard on the disabled. Much of the help needed is not covered at all by anything except what one might happen to have in their pocket which you know isn't much.

This "Gang of Six" (aka: Pack of Thieves) is literally killing off the old and the sick! :argh:

:kick:
