Oregon Congressman David Wu Says He's Resigning
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON — Democratic Rep. David Wu of Oregon has announced that he is resigning in the wake of allegations that he had a sexual encounter with an 18-year-old woman.

Democratic leaders had called for a House Ethics investigation after the initial reports of the allegation. Wu had said that whatever occurred was consensual.

Wu said Tuesday the well-being of his children should come first, so he will resign after Congress resolves the debate over the debt ceiling.

1. He has a long history of sexual harrassment complaints
including an encounter with a minor, and complaints from his staff.
And apparently due to mental health issues.

7. WTF is an "unwanted sexual encounter?"
If she is accusing him of assault or forcible rape, come out and say it and file charges...

I'm also curious to know why the accuser called Wu's office -- What was that going to accomplish? And why did she wait until spring to reveal an incident that supposedly happened last Thanksgiving??

9. I have no idea what really happened, only Wu and she do. But from here it looks like...
...a case of the reason why you don't go fucking people or getting blowjobs from them or anything while you're a politician: Because later, they can say it wasn't consensual and drag you down. Now, was this consensual? I don't know. But I also know it's easy to make these charges...maybe she even saved the semen-stained dress? Know what I mean? You never know what kind of fuckup has just agreed to have sex with you, regardless of whether they're a consenting adult or not.

10. Also, if the accuser isn't filing charges, then she should be named

Especially since she is the daughter of what I'm guessing is a very wealthy, high-profile and influential donor. This whole thing reeks of a setup until more facts come to light.

The Shield Law doesn't apply here, iirc...Although it's clear the newspaper and people in Wu's district all seem to know who she is...
