Paul McCartney Says He Was 'Apparently' Hacked, Will Talk To UK Police
Source: Huffington Post

Paul McCartney announced Thursday that he will be contacting British police after allegations surfaced that his phone messages may have been hacked.

The former Beatle told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour, "I’ll tell you that when I go back after this tour I’m going to talk to the police because I apparently have been hacked," according to the Wrap.

McCartney's announcement comes a day after his ex-wife Heather Mills alleged that a journalist working for tabloid publisher Trinity Mirror had admitted to hacking her phone in 2001. Speaking to the BBC on Wednesday, she recalled receiving a phone call from a journalist, who quoted word-for-word a voicemail message that McCartney had left her.

McCartney remarked, "I don’t know much about it, but I do think it’s a horrendous violation of privacy, and I think it's been going on for a long time and more people than we've heard about knew about it."

A fucking Beatle.

The one who would be the most likely to kick the shit out of you if you wronged his family, from what I know about all four, which is a lot.

This just got real... -er.

6. So? Murdoch planned it, funded it, had that secret room built...
You do know about the secret room right?

Apparently it's at all levels

8. WTF are you talking about?
This is a rival to Murdoch's News International. The Mirror is a rival to The Sun. The parent company, Trinity Mirror, also owns some local newspapers.

If it helps, Mirror Group Newspapers used to be owned by Robert Maxwell, who rivalled Murdoch in general nastiness (he stole the pension funds of his own employees, but wasn't found out until he drowned in the early 90s - never been worked out if he just fell from his yacht, or killed himself (there are inevitable conspiracy theories too, but without anyone with opportunity having a motive)).

13. Very likely the Mail and Express groups too
Other media groups are now in the spotlight after Britain's Information Commissioner's Office said police had requested files from a 2006 inquiry into the use of private investigators by newspapers.

That inquiry found that the Daily Mail made 952 requests to private detectives for confidential details; The People made 802 requests, the Daily Mirror 681 and The Mail on Sunday 266. The News of the World was in fifth place with 228.

"The information was handed over to the police three months ago. It was at their request," a spokesman for the Information Commissioner's Office told AFP.

I include the Express because the owner, Richard Desmond, is a pornographer who even withdrew from the toothless Press Complaints Commission earlier this year; to him, integrity is a foreign word, and he heavily controls what goes in the paper:

However, the jury heard evidence that contradicted this picture, for instance that Townsend's predecessor, Michael Pilgrim, left the Sunday Express shortly after Desmond bought the title, apparently unhappy at management intervening in editorial matters.

And the former media editor of the Sunday Express, David Hellier, told the court that Desmond was seen in the newsroom "virtually every day between five and seven o'clock" and would regularly demand editorial changes. "My impression was that he effectively edited the paper," said Hellier.

Hellier added that he was so "sickened by the interference" that he went to the National Union of Journalists to lodge an official complaint.

He claimed that, at the Sunday Express, Townsend once showed him an exercise book containing the names of "all of the companies Richard is interested in", and that shortly afterwards he was asked to write a negative piece about Black.

15. True, but Flynt is a far better man than Desmond
For a laugh, the top BBC interviewer reminding Tony Blair of some of Desmond's titles, after Desmond donated to the Labour Party:

Desmond hates being reminded he still owns TV porn channels as well as his 'respectable' papers and magazines, so it seems worth getting it associated with him.

22. Hmm, which McCartney-written songs would make a good soundtrack?
"Spies Like Us" (a perfect description of Murky Murdoch and his fellow criminals)?

Murdoch is a "Fool on the Hill."

Sir Paul needs some "Help"!

In the meantime, these allegations are quite shocking, and those responsible will face punishment.

McCartney Mills full divorce ruling: Extracts.

In his full ruling on the McCartney divorce, the judge was highly critical of Heather Mills's evidence. Mr Justice Bennett wrote:

"The husband’s evidence was, in my judgment, balanced. He expressed himself moderately though at times with justifiable irritation, if not anger. He was consistent, accurate and honest.

"But I regret to have to say I cannot say the same about the wife’s evidence. Having watched and listened to her give evidence, having studied the documents, and having given in her favour every allowance for the enormous strain she must have been under (and in conducting her own case) I am driven to the conclusion that much of her evidence, both written and oral, was not just inconsistent and inaccurate but also less than candid. Overall she was a less than impressive witness."

>

"I have to say I cannot accept the wife’s case that she was wealthy and independent by the time she met the husband in the middle of 1999. Her problem stems from the lack of any documentary evidence to support her case as to the level of her earnings."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1582042/McCartney-Mills-full-divorce-ruling-Extracts.html

"inconsistent and inaccurate".......how polite of the Judge

Doubtless others will also want an explanation of how come she waited 10 years to come out with the allegation.

28. Your assessment of H. Mills is spot-on
For instance, if McCartney was a drunken wife abuser, why didn't she ask for sole custody of Beatrice? Her publicist says all the allegations were false because HE left HER. However, that doesn't get Piers Morgan off the hook for listening to, and then writing about what was a private voicemail. Anyway, I'm rooting for Sir Paul, and could care less about the ex.
