Originally spotted on Twitter by American Banker, someone paid for an airplane to fly around Manhattan—reportedly near the Standard & Poor’s offices—with a banner screaming: “THANKS FOR THE DOWNGRADE. UPDATE: Fortune‘s Dan Primack figured out who flew the plane, none other than a single mother from St. Louis fed-up with Wall Street:

“I originally wanted to fly it over Washington, D.C., but learned that you can’t do that,” says the banker, who asked to remain anonymous for job security reasons. “So I chose Wall Street instead, but didn’t specifically intend it to fly over S&P. I’m just a mother from St. Louis who feels the only reason we got downgraded was people in politics.”

The rest of the damn state has already ceded into being East Kansas, but there remain pockets of St. Louis and Kansas City that are bearable and still deserve to be called Missourians!

The S&P execs belong in jail for the mortgage mess, but not for this.

I hope 100% of your clothes come from the goodwill. I hope you live in the worst house in the poorest neighborhood. I hope you don't have a computer, cable, cell phone, etc. After all, think of all the children that could be fed with your wasteful spending.

The fact is that this is something needs to be pounded home to our politicians and would pay dividends to us as nation if we rose up and made our voices heard. The notion that we can only spend out money on what is the singlest greatest issue is both short-sighted and naive.

Now I'd assume the message was intended for congress not S&P although they didn't help with a $2 trillion math error. Although Rick Perry has done the same thing.

The criminals who enabled the 2008 heist and are now enabling the 2011 Era of Higher Interest Rates should be fired, then prosecuted, then jailed, then every person who was injured by either action should be able to punch each of them in the stomach once upon their release.

I could deal with St. Louis: the Cards, the Blues, good beer (Schlafly, not Bud), even light rail transit. The major sticking point is that all of their Italian food seems to have cheese -- a special variety made just for them. :puke:
